I'm an English teacher, you don't need a lick of French
what's it like being an english teacher in france? How/why did you become one?
I learned English and Spanish from age 3 thanks to my tutor. Then video games and satellite /tv/ helped me perfect it, along with speaking with strangers in the street.
Later on I traveled a lot, lived and worked in Scandinavia for two years, where I did not actively learn the language but kept speaking English all the time since the vast majority are fluent in English.
This drove me to do translation when I got tired of overworking my ass off (for excellent cash mind if I say) and I started translating freelance, which paid off right from my desk, at home.
With time I got even lazier, so I took up a master's degree on top of my bachelor's degree and became a teacher, the ultimate lazy position in France.
You simply cannot imagine how much of a walk in the park this job is in France. We have four months of vacation totally in a year, we give less than 20 hours of class hours a week, and the yearly course program never changes.
On top of that, the pay is actually decent, you can live very well right from the start, you will automatically find a job instantly, and you will never get fired.
Also you get the pension early, and it's much bigger than the private sector: in France, private pensions are 50% of the 25 best years average, while public pensions are 75% of the last 6 months of work.
Having said that, I'm considering ESL, because I really like Eastern European qts, but the pay sucks there.
Do french kids hate learning English like I imagine they do
Yes
Even if they got their nose stuck up their smartphones 24/7 with English media, they still hate learning it, but it doesn't matter, because they do good in exams anyway, so you're safe from any kind of inspection. Unlike teachers in maths/physics/chemistry/biology/geology/history/geography/technology who have a lot of pressure on them
Do you believe in a free and united Ireland?

Land of the single most spoken celtic language in the world despite having a population of only around three million or so
Single highest rate of r1b/celtic haplomeme in the world
Genetically the least affected by the invasions and migrations into and between the British Isles, compared to the English, Irish, and Scottish
