Rus was the name of several Ruthenian states after Kievan Rus split up, they were named after colors, like Red Rus, Black Rus, etc. The theory is that it happened because Mongols used the colors to discribe directions (for example red was south).

After Muscovy started conquering the other Ruthenian duchies, they called themselves "Russia" to justify the conquest.

The name for Sweden is wrong though; the modern term is Sverige which is an archaic way of spelling Svea Rike, which means Realm of the Swedes, same as the german Reich. The Land of the Swedes would be Svealand, which is just one region in the country, as the Swedes/Svear were a tribe along with the Geats/Götar.
