Governor elections are a bit different from federal elections in terms of politics. It’s not unusual for a Republican Governor to win in states that are solid blue in national elections and vice versa.
Republican Governors in the state of Texas tend to get pretty good support from Hispanics. Bush Jr was really popular with Hispanics, and Abbot’s done a decent enough so far. Certainly not worth throwing him out to elect some goblina thot that looks like it belongs California.
