Dumb people and cheap food
So basically it's the jews
because they don’t listen to wise advice of Jewish doctors
Pretty sure the majority of cases are due to consuming more calories than they spent.
Most Americans have desk jobs and fast food is everywhere. It won't be long until the Euros become fatties too
He's not asking "how" he's asking "why".
Can't you be more of an idiot?
We're lazy gluttonous alcoholics.
The sugar jew
>third-world levels of poverty lead to vast swaths of people having to resort to fast food and other processed garbage because it's significantly cheaper than healthy food
>infrastructure is entirely based around cars outside of large metropolitan cities, so most people never get any involuntary exercise from going about their daily lives like in normal countries
>(((select all images with cars)))
Also, bcuz Jooz.
some of the fattest people i know are non alcoholic southerners, alcoholism isn't a factor.
>alcoholism isn't a factor
Nigga you are so wrong.
>high-functioning alcoholic
>when drinking, overeat
>when drinking, hungover and eat to get rid of hangover
>repeat
When I'm not drinking I drop 25 lbs. almost immediately.
You're full of shit.
>third-world levels of poverty lead to vast swaths of people having to resort to fast food and other processed garbage because it's significantly cheaper than healthy food
this isn't true at all
Sedentary lifestyles combined with cheap caloric dense food carefully prepared with addictive additives before being marketed to the entire country billions of dollars worth of advertising every single year.
This is only part of the problem but it helps provide some context.
To give you an idea of the marketing factors at play:
rwjf.org
>A total of $4.6 billion was spent on all advertising by fast food restaurants in 2012. This was an 8 percent increase over 2009. McDonald's spent 2.7 times as much to advertise its products as all fruit, vegetable, bottled water, and milk advertisers combined.
Less than 1 percent of all kids’ meal combinations met recommended nutrition standards.
>On average, U.S. preschoolers viewed 2.8 fast food ads on TV every day in 2012; children aged 6-11 years viewed 3.2 ads per day; and teens viewed 4.8 ads per day.
>Fast food restaurants continued to target black and Hispanic youth, populations at high risk for obesity and related diseases.
Alcoholics don't make up a large portion of our population
Yeah, just tell the entertainment industry that.
>third-world levels of poverty lead to vast swaths of people having to resort to fast food and other processed garbage because it's significantly cheaper than healthy food
This is still wrong. It's not cheaper, it's just faster to drive up and eat 5 or 10 thousand whatever calories at a mcdonalds than it would be to cook it.
huh?
dysgenic immigration programs, subsidized junk food, car culture.... so basically jews
You're a fucking retard if you think there is no fast food places in Europe or that Europeans do more manual work
europeans are already pretty fat. Germany has an obesity rate of something like 25% now. The reason it isn't as bad as the US is due to population density
You don't have as many fast food places as we do, and you have walking access to healthier options. But give it time, fast food will grab your people by the balls
The huge amount of money that is made from restaurants and bars. It's part of the "entertainment industry" if you ever file taxes for one.
Huge portions of cheap food led to large portions. Combine that with the history that a lot of Americans were farmers that burned a lot of calories while working, so high calorie food developed as cuisine in places like the midwest and south. As they became more sedentary they unfortunately kept eating the high calorie food. Also, there is evidence that corn syrup and artificial sweeteners may be adding to the problem.
Americans get better deals for fast food than anyone else I guess.
At least mcdonald's wise
>healthier options
I am so fucking sick of this argument.
There are plenty of cheaper, healthier options by far than fast food. The problem is that people are too fucking lazy to cook.
Or alternately they could FAST, saving a ton of money on food, and dropping the weight. But they're pussies and think that they will pass out if they miss their mid-afternoon snack.
God I hate my fellow cuntrymen.
I don't get why this has to do with people eating a lot of fast food
kys
>I have never been to Europe but I feel an inferiority complex towards their slim population
ok
Nigger I have to drive 9 miles to the grocery store to get shit, or I can drive down the block and get me some A&Ws
None of your memetext was insinuated by that user.
Our cities are so spread out that we don't walk nearly as much as other high-income countries. Even just walking to and from a bus stop burns significant calories.
so youre lazy. youre proving his point.
Im a skeltal but recently it seems like American fast food culture is making a big impact in Europe. For example the hamburger became France's most popular food recently, Amsterdam has tons of burger cubby shops popping up, etc.
no it doesn't, exercise without a change of diet will not make you lose weight but change of diet without exercise will
Man you don’t need to go to the grocery store every time you’re hungry. You can buy shit in advance that you think would be tasty and convenient to cook. I’m so glad I started cooking alot, even though I still really like nice restaurants.
Laziness exists everywhere, it's not an American phenomenon. My point being that Europeans have all of their needs close by so they don't have to be picky
yes, but when I run out of food I tend to blow off going to the grocery store in favor for fast food because all I want to do after work is chill.
>every european has every single thing close by
>every american has every single thing far away
are you doing this on purpose?
>what is sprawl
Well, caloric intake and weight gain/loss has to be looked at on a larger time frame. If you ate a lot last night, eat a little less and walk more the next day. That’s what I do to manage my weight, since there will always be those situations where having something healthy isn’t very convenient.
We don't consume significantly more calories, we just expend a lot less.
I personally don't have weight issues because I have active hobbies, but I know that fast food is an issue for a lot of people.
>I personally don't have weight issues because I have active hobbies
Ooooooo, well everyone look at THIS guy. He's clearly better than the rest of us.
this hamburger looks as a monster's mouth
I wasn't bragging
shit diet from cheap food that has become culture that's really it
Because we don’t walk anywhere.
You have to take a car to get anywhere in America. Everyone acts like it’s solely the food but we’ve been working on improving our food for a decade. It’s not going to improve until we actually get people out of the cars.
That's only going to happen once our oil-based economy collapses when we run out of it within the next few decades.
>Because we don’t walk anywhere.
this is absolutely irrelevant compared to
you fucktards are getting on my nerves, every other country in this thread has repeatedly told you its got nothing to do with walking and everything to do with excersise
weight gain is simple, x calories are required per day for weight retention, you eat less calories than that amount and you lose weight, walking a little bit per day will have close to zero impact on your calorie requirements, the only time your calorie requirements rise a significant amount is if you are doing manual labour all day long 5 days a week or are a professional athlete
everything to do with DIET, NOT EXCERSIZE FUCKING DIET I wrote the wrong fucking word because you fucking cuntrugs have pushed me over the edge with your stupidity, I am so sick of your dropkick fucking opinions and failure to understand even BASIC FUCKING CONCEPTS AS ENERGY IN AND ENERGY OUT just stop dropping your fucking sugar water down your fat fucking gullets FUCK
Man I’m not saying Americans don’t eat shitty food. Everyone knows we eat shit. But in recent years it’s gotten better. And I’m saying we won’t see any benefit from just slightly improving our diet alone.
And yes in fact walking will help. France and Italy have some of the most pedestrian-friendly environments in the West, and they have the lowest rates of obesity. Despite the fact that they have tons of junk food readily available.
Yes bad diet makes you fat. But that alone won’t solve an obesity problem as bad as ours until we stop sitting down 12 hours a day.
Or we could, you know build some better transit infrastructure so we can get around with something besides cars.
If Republicans will let that happen.
Public transportation is obviously very important, but you can't have it without walkable, sustainable communities, which we'll fortunately be forced to replace our suburban wastelands with after the inevitable economic dark age.
I personally see it as a chicken and egg scenario. Whicher one you build first, the other will follow in time.
It’s already happened in our major cities but it needs to reach the mid size cities across the south and Midwest.
You're thinking of this on an individual level. It's true that, if you were giving weight-loss advice to someone, it wouldn't make sense to focus on just walking a little bit evey day. You would do better to emphasize dietary changes.
But on a population level, a marginal expenditure of 100-200 calories per capita per day (from walking) can result in significant changes. When comparing countries, these relatively minor lifestyle and cultural differences become important. You're probably from Jow Forums, so you're thinking about this question in the wrong way.
Lack of walkability within cities and overconsumption. I've been to Key West and the dishes at the restaurants are wayyyy bigger than anything you'd find here.
Sweden is actually one a decline.
coca-cola
>Tfw thin twink
>Cant gain weighg no matter how much i try
Less meals doesnt neccesseraly mean youll lose weight, it can actually be harmful for you if you skip breakfast or lunch and eat a ton in the next meal to compensate
In spain we do up to 6 "meals" a day and we're pretty healthy
Tricks to lose weight
>use smaller plates(has a psychological effect)
>walk instead of driving everywhere (not possible in most of USA)
>stop eating garbage and play a sport you like
Stop eating sugar and wheat.
I'd be lost living in such a large house, desu.
Because the government heavily subsidizes the corn industry, which then puts high fructose corn syrup into all of our food.
obvious redditor
fuck off nigger
Massive amounts of sugar, accessibility of food, sedentary lifestyle
If you ever wonder why americans are always in road rage videos and freakout compilations its because excessive consumption of sugar creates moodyness and agressivity
Da jooz of course. Why else?
Surplsingly many products in Europe too has a lot of added sugar. I can't but to wonder how it must be in the US.
I didn't need to do nothing but quit wheat products and buy stuff which doesn't have much sugar in it. Fat just melted away without nothing any effort. I also feel more energetic and my acne went away. Sugar is the devil my man
Policy, environmental factors, population/demographic factors, community/social factors, and individual motivations. Its almost always a combination whether you think I'm intellectualizing or not.
For example in a given community they may have few if any sidewalks or walkable nature paths, expensive places to buy high quality ingredients, not enough resources for proper diets and incentives or mental health issues (among many, many other things), a culture of obesity/overeating (I'm looking at you especially american south), and then just the vagaries of individuals' lives. So youve got a lot of factors at play, not always each, but some places are worse than others. For example colorado is a lot better off as far as bmi and health markers. Some areas of some states are obese while just 50 miles down the road there is a hub of health nuts. So it varies.
When states pass "muh-liberal" laws forcing people to give up or pay tax for some foods, it often results in better health outcomes. Laws have a huge effect on peoples decisions and thus are a great but heavy-handed tool for improving the health status of americans. However, we are as a nation not comfortable with legislating our way out of bad health because muh freedom.
t. public health
Actual answer
>Infrastructure completely 100% built around the car, meaning almost nobody walks/bikes/takes public transport
>Combine this with a desk job and you have a 100% sedentary lifestyle
>Eating homecooked meals with family not a large part of American culture (not saying American don't do this, but it's certainly less of a staple of their culture than it would be in France for example), homecooked meals tend to be lower in calories
>Lazy/overworked populace doesn't want to spent time cooking, results in more fast food consumption and TV dinners
>Addicted to sugar as it's in everything
Unhealthy food is cheap, so idiots and poor people eat it almost exclusively.
>Unhealthy food is cheap
It's not. Easy to cook, yes, but not cheap.
You save a lot of money when you buy healthy food and cook it yourself.
>I'd like to hear someone explain this preferably without blaming jews
>It won't be long until the Euros become fatties too
It's already happening
I read somewhere that american donuts have twice the sugar of european ones
Also they put some fructose corn syrup in the burger buns idk how that works
non kosher food
>Saudi Arabia missing from this list
hmmmmmm
Underrated
Their calorie input is greater than their energy consumption.
