unity won't help Europe. It's like merging all the failing shit companies together. It won't make a new powerful startup, this isn't how the world works. You can make a big pile of dying Europe, it'll only hasten the decay, it won't make corrupt and weak men strong. European people are the problem, they aren't power-hungry, they aren't determined, they aren't adventurous enough.

It's the same here. Swedes are very pro-EU as an umbrella organisation for European cooperation and *trade*. The opposition to a federal EU however is very high; I think Sweden and Norway have roughly the same percentage of euroskeptic influence in our respective parliaments, though Sweden's obviously in the EU.

Sure, but that would involve cooperation over Russia and Iran. Two countries Germany is quite happy to maintain relations with, and Germany controls the EU. The pieces fall into place.
