Brits will defend this

all the world on the right

why is every other thread here just britcucks and amerifats sucking each others dicks

the American way is a massive waste of data
0-3 == 4 numbers : log2(4 ) == 2 bits
0-4 == 5 numbers : log2(5) == 3 bits

Because dogs can't post on here, and theirs are the only dicks Canadians are willing to suck

But the American way starts at one so both use same number of bits to encode the floor

The ground floor rests on the ground. The other floors have artificial support.

Don't indians have basements?

Apartment buildings have underground parking, but regular houses don't.

And they'd be right to.
Do american buildings go from 1 to -1 for the basement ?

Why do Americans always post these kinds of threads, specifically calling Brits out, only to discover literally everyone else in the world uses the same systems as us, and the American are always the odd ones out?
It is a weird gimmick I'm just not high-IQ enough to understand?

Ours is the most logical though, the US way has two different numerical systems depending if you're above or below level.

Honestly, I use "first floor" and "ground floor" interchangeably although I do use the former more.

its for attention desu, we're no different than the Finn gayposters.

BECAUSE THE GROUND FLOOR IS ON THE FUCKING GROUND AND THE FIRST FLOOR IS A N A R T I F I C I A L F L O O R

Your "first floor" isn't actually a floor. It's the ground. If you cunts actually invented the language you'd have a right to criticise it.

Fucking retard you count floors from ground floor counting it as the first not the 0th floor thats stupid as shit nigger

result of intense inbreeding

The ground floor is 0, it's the default floor level.

true but you'd be encoding it in the british way then converting it
00=0 ~ 1
01=1 ~ 2
10=2 ~ 3
11=3 ~ 4

Do bongs also name basement floor levels as negative numbers?

Fixed

Attached: american english.jpg (604x501, 57K)

Thats stupid
>where are yu goin
>0th floor

With the American system you go two floors up you're on +3, if you go 2 floors down you're -2.

The brits back at it again with their logic

It's the ground fucking floor, the one we all walk on as default.

It isn't a waste because the 0 floor doesn't exist in the American system.

Chad array vs virgin integer.

It should be Ground Floor, Second floor, etc..

Imagine being such a nationalist spacker that you would legit argue over something like this.

Well yes obviously, but it should.

Both are equally right desu

this is false i've been to america they call it B1 B2 B3 for basement not negative numbers

Makes no difference, if you go up two floors you are floor 3.
You go down two floors you are still on B2.

Too soon

I think we use both.
We use the American way when referring to floors or stories. But another common way of saying it is in stairs, which would be the British way.
E.G: "He lives three floors above me" or "he lives two stairs above me".

lmao

>But another common way of saying it is in stairs
We do that too
And we refer to the ground level as the "rez-de-chaussée" (which roghly means "on pavement level')

not really sure what point you are trying to make here, i think you're just looking for something to complain about desu

I made my point in The British way is more logical, aren't we all looking for something pointless to complain about ITT?

What else would somebody be doing on a Friday evening?

We call it as the brits as well though

kek

Lol

You know this is another celcius farenheit situation?
You don't call the main menu of game a level.

>Walk inside a building, no floor under my feet

The official way is the British one though

But you don't need a fucking 'zeroth' floor.

It's not called the zeroth floor either. It's called the bottom floor.

Nah, ground floor.

We call it bottom floor.

But it's still an unneeded name. Just call it the first floor of the fucking building.

You don't count to ten by starting with zero, its a value specifically meant to show the lack of an amount

AFAIK we use the American one due to the Russian occupants

we use both here I think, and even ground>2nd>3rd

>ground floor

Attached: 1533649854799s.jpg (125x109, 3K)

this is at least better than having both a ground floor and a first floor.

user! You have no culture to justify it!
Back in the day, the ground floor wasn't a floor, it was dirt and hay. The floor above that was actually a floor.
Do you see? So now if you changed that up, there would be complications. Do you get it?

But that isn't how thing are anymore, even the first floor is an actually floor?

You dumb yuro's do realize that right?

Why do you think it would make sense to change up a system that works and everyone is fine and accustomed to? Pls justify confusing a whole nation.

Which is why it's not called the zeroth floor, it's the ground floor. From there if you go up the first set of stairs the first floor you encounter will obviously be called the first floor.

BUT ITS NOT THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE BUILDING.

Even if a building doesn't have a a basement, the FIRST floor is still built on top of a artificial foundation.
Do you people think they literal start laying down plywood, tile, floor boards, ect directly onto the fucking ground?

In the British system your thirteen story building's top floor is called the twelfth . Its so retarded I don't understand how people can defend this.

You don't need a special name for the the first floor of a building, calling it the FIRST floor already implies that.

Read your post again.
Floor =/ = Story

You need to read my post again

You fucking retard that's Asian countries that skip the 4th floor
Some hotels don't have a 13th floor mostly out of tradition, not that you moose fuckers could count that high

No. You have your system and we have our traditional one.

>Do you people think they literal start laying down plywood, tile, floor boards, ect directly onto the fucking ground?
Funnily enough having actual floors in your home as a luxury up until the renaissance. Most of the time it was just hard packed ground, they'd also live with cows and chickens.
Us civilized Americans actually built proper homes from the start

>Why do you think it would make sense to change up a system that works and everyone is fine and accustomed to? Pls justify confusing a whole nation.
Never say a god damn word about imperial measurements again if you actually believe this

meanwhile in australia, you can find both systems being used
god i fucking hate being stuck in between the american and british ways of doing things and needing to understand both

I've never said that you should change to metric.
Just that it's plain out retarded and it's not
Actually imperial measurements.

>Driving on the wrong side of the road
>Using retarded measurements for everything
>Retarded ground floors
>Blacked shithole
>Subhuman class
>Loicense
The Brits should be deported.

Mostly Jow Forums and some other boards.

t. passing by

i'm sure you know all about deportations ivan
