He-he, benis in bagina. :DDDDD

lewd

An anime when I was a small child.
The first was probably Ribon no Kishi or Bikke the Viking, I don't remember.
The one I remember is UFO Robot Grendizer (pic related), which was a major craze in 1978 and is said the be the only program ever to have reached 100% in the history of French TV.

A few years later, I came upon Space Invaders (the video game) and realized video games were not just the boring American Pong machines.

Then, Macross and Final Fantasy finished the job, and the rest is history.

that's almost my dad period. i've watched some of aforementioned titles, though. but was Japanese media accessible at that time?

In the 70s, not to me. It was only a few shows, dubbed and sometimes edited, shown on French TV.
By the 80s, VCRs became common, and people copied such gems as kaze no tani no Nausicaa (in Japanese) and spread them around, and a few of us were delighted to watch them. We could import Japanese Famicom games for our European Famicoms, too.
By the 90s, cable TV and DVD made subtitled anime readily accessible, also major movies were shown in theaters in Paris, in Japanese in the evenings.
Some late TV aired Kurosawa movies and other classics, too.

that's pretty neat, I like how French started with old Japanese stuff, especially Kurosawa. modern people mainly recognize only anime as the representation of our culture.
