The guys that I spoke to in the West kept on complaining for years that Tinder is full with fake profiles that just drop you ads or lure you in to pay for extra matches.
So it's more likely that somehow the algorithm figured out that you like taller women so it's giving you fake profiles of tall girls to make you stay.
