All the great rock bands are from UK, so US had to learn to deconstruct and cover themselves in irony just to compete.
No joke, indie rock is like the only genre where the US bands beat the UK

UK makes best Indie.

Listening to rock will brand you as a racist.

Modest mouse, Pavement and Built to spill are all american bands tho

Sure. UK rock acts reigned supreme through the 60s and 70s and even 80s. It was only the indie explosion of the 90s and 2000s that elevated US rock again (even earlier if you count Husker Du, Sonic Youth, and Pixies). If not it would all just be Pop Punk and Nickelback.

So were Pixies, Flaming Lips, and Spoon.

it's funny howliterally any topic is brought up and someone says US does something right, there is always a couple spergs that come in and dismantle everything just because they don't like the US

>Talking Heads
>Cringy

Canada had a better indie scene in the late 90s and all of the 00s. I'm not even saying this as a canadian but objectively.

Because we have artistic souls, despite "Not having a culture lmao 56% mutt"

Holy fucking shit dude, choke harder

Legit don't know any 90's Canadian indie rock band except Les Colocs which are from Quebec

Godspeed You Black Emperor ring a bell?

Yeah but that's not really what comes to mind when i think Indie Rock desu. And it's another band from Quebec so i guess Quebec is pretty good.

>Yeah but that's not really what comes to mind when i think Indie Rock desu
>The group releases recordings through Constellation, an independent record label also located in Montreal

I would disagree. 60's sure, the whole british invasion. 70's and 80's? That's contentious. Aerosmith? Lynyrd Skynyrd? The Doors? Journey? Ramones? KISS? Beach boys? Bon Jovi? Guns n roses? Eagles? Boston? US dominated. In terms of albums sales, US rock had a shitton. and the top selling records during these times, there was a lot of US rock.

Alright you're factually correct but you won't find them classified as Indie Rock on many sites is what i meant

DIDNT ADD UP
FORGOT TO CARRY A ZERO

Pisses me off that if you look up Indie Rock bands, none of them charted in the US, but it's not uncommon for them to chart in the UK
UK top 40 is way better than US top 40
Pic unrelated

Why are there no good French indie bands?
Why aren't Métal Urbain more famous?

they still belive christophe colomb landed in india... ok thats weak.

Our music is pretty much terrible all around, all of our GOATs died between 25 and 50 years ago.

Phoenix are a decent pop band.
Daïtro are good and so are Air.
That's about it though lol

Noir Désir was pretty good it's The Gun Club but in French

Ohhh thx I'll check that out
