I always wonder about this too. Just between us, Canada and Mexico we have a fuckton.
Why beg for others when you already have tons of them?
To fuck with Europe.
The more control over the world, the better.
whats not to get?
were clearly just hoarding our own for the future and using our basically infinite supply of money in an advantageous way.
US politicians do their best to block drilling for oil in pristine locations.
US cannot compete with entire OPEC block when it comes to total production and they will always be able to undercut US prices so that importing oil is more cost effective for Americans.
because the USA relies on importation of crude oil and refining it for exports.
who cares
This basically
The quality of the oil is much more important than the quantity. America's oil is mostly unusable trash.
Ding Ding Ding
The world's largest and most efficient refineries cost a whole buncha fucking money don't you know.
And you know what else? As long as the United States is raw dicking the price of refined petroleum products, it will never be economical for other countries to build up their refining capacity.
I think a big part of it is just so that europe and Australia keep getting their oil so they don't have a crisis, can keep buying american shit and export shit to America which can be tariffed
its the same reason why the built up europe and the Asian tigers after ww2
it's not about having more, but knowing and controlling where it goes, just like with drugs
>And you know what else? As long as the United States is raw dicking the price of refined petroleum products, it will never be economical for other countries to build up their refining capacity.
Wrong

There's a few major reasons, but a big part of it is that we don't want to fuck up the scenery.
But another part is security. Because what if the nations we buy from become hostile all of a sudden, then we'll have only our stockpile to rely on.
It's a plan for if we're ever forced into isolation.
Basically every U.S. government decision is based on, in some way, defending the homeland. Oil is not an exception.
>relying on yourself
>implying its a bad thing
Because their allies in the rest of world still need it
should "intervene" in Venezuela desu
Because you are retarded. We never relied on foreign oil much. Just look up statistics from 10/20/30 years ago. We never "oppress" anyone especially for "oil". We just maintain the right world order and everyone benefits from that.
why not become neutral and just mind their own business?
Disparity in oil quality, I guess.
>we never oppress anyone for oil
That risks China or Russia becoming powerful enough to bring shit to the Americas. If America isn’t proactive they’ll end up isolated against their own will by a hostile power.
supply vs demand
we produce more oil than anyone else
but oil is global commodity, so it the price goes up in one part of the world, it goes up everywhere
we dont fuck around in the middle east to make sure we have enough oil
we fuck around in the middle east to make sure its economical to use our own oil
the supply is not what interests us, the price is
(protip: USA was the worlds largest oil producer from the 1800's (when oil was first used) up until the 1970's, and from 2018-???)
Saudi's limit production in order to keep prices artificially inflated. The oil crash in 2010 was a dickwaving reminder that they can increase their output tenfold any time they want and put other producers out of business, and that's exactly what happened.
Although US is producing large amounts of oil, it's much more expensive and difficult to extract than Saudi oil.
They want to keep the monopoly on oil.
One thing is having enough oil for yourself, another thing is having enough oil to control most nations in the world.
This makes sense to the Brfags because we study this in high school. England had the monopoly on wine produced in Portugal because they signed a treaty to buy the whole production in exchange for fabric. This was enough to compete against the French and the Italians in the wine market without producing a single bottle in England.
Well then, here is a more interesting question. What would happen if there was a worker's revolt in Saudi Arabia?
na, american is basically the standard, because we invented the standard
but saudi oil is suprisingly sour, and more importantly, very easy to produce (costs half as much to pull saudi oil out of the ground as it does to pull american oil out)
venezualian oil is worthless unless you mix it with some sour saudi oil
oil prices go up, world switches to renewable energy faster
the 1970's oil embargo actually caused people to think about fuel economy vehicles
if the saudis cut production too much they could make money in the short term
but they are killing their future, since once oil is done being a cash cow, they have nothing else to base their economy around
they could pull that crap again, but they are basically getting a huge payout now, in return for being poor and penniless in the future
which would you prefer, get payed $100 today, or $1 a day for 1000 days in a row?
thats the current oil market dilemma, the more money you make now, the sooner your product will become obsolute, meaning no more money ever
It's about controlling the world supply.
if you didnt read the recent news their largest "frack" fields are draining faster than expected
it wont take long (a couple decades) because fracking cant compite economically against "normal" oil (yes, there is plently left)
before* fracking
Most of the oil is sold on the international market. The Keystone XL pipeline is set to ship millions of barrels a day to the Gulf Coast for refinery then sold on the international market.
SA is a massive military industrial complex client, which is one of the main reasons American politicians suck royal Arab cock. If they are begging for anything, it's arms contracts and favourable agreements with OPEC.
Arabs and jews are our best friends!!
Elon will take them to the photovoltaic age and then they will bomb the Saudis, so Euros, who kept themselves back with their stupid taxes and regulations, are cut off.
Saudis seem to be investing a lot into potential renewable energy technologies right now. Making them slightly less retarded than otherwise.
