the only reason the DPRK is underdeveloped is because the west refuses to trade with them and they have to focus on their military due to invasion threat from west. if the west didn't have such an antagonistic outlook towards anyone who isn't their own government then the country would be much better off today

Corruption lowers efficiency as well as trust in institutions, which means reduced loyalty among the bureaucracy and populace in general.

People eat bark, are infested with never before seen parasites, use perishables as currency, fuck over their own families, dramatically fake cry or are sent to slave camps, are malnourished, live in powerless villages, dont know how to farm, require permission to travel outside their villages, cant speak to foreigners, barely have internet nor tv, dont have shops, and cant wear jeans. DPRK government works only to improve the quality of it's citizens, but thanks to worldwide embargoes they can't do that; the government barely has enough food to feed itself. the only corrupt governments in this world are the ones led by western nations

Why would the west want to invade them so badly? The cold war finished ages ago. Russia, China, and Iran are all in a sense "anti-american" but none of them are anywhere close to the state the DPRK is.

the only difference is the DPRK has no direct allies anymore, so they have to make nukes as a deterrence against the west
only once they make ones that can successfully reach America can they start focusing on their economy, but that will likely take a very long time depending on how much western nations want to make Korean people suffer

Honestly, why would anyone want to invade them? Once you capture it, what do you have? A bunch of poor, uneducated, and famished masses that will cause a humanitarian disaster? Sure there's a vast amount of untouched resources there, but there's no good way to collect it and ship it with no real good infrastructure. Besides Pyongyang, there's not much in North Korea in infrastructure
