Most of the things people hunt live in extreme abundance and/or are invasive, hunting is just a form of trimming their populations down to reasonable levels and to keep the ecosystem in balance.

Hunting is a lot of waiting patiently in the elements (here it's cold and often snowing during deer season), taking the perfect shot (if you're hunting foul it's even more of a skill to hit them), field dressing the kill and then usually carrying it a long distance. It's not like playing xbox on your couch.
