Whats the deal with all the references to or influences from german culture (German names or caracters like pic related being of german descent, a lot of characters having traits considered german like blonde hair and blue eyes)seen in japanese media? Since i dont live in japan my perception of this is limited (my main vehicles being anime/manga and occasional comedy shows). Is there a large amount of influence from german culture? Why so? Or am im being unconsciously selective?

Japan is literally the most foreign influenced country in the world

Îts super cool for names

it isn't german influence per se
it is their idea of what german culture should be
that is their anime/manga portrayal of germanic-ness isn't from germany, it's what japanese think what germany is

I've seen more German characters with white hair and red eyes than blonde hair and blue eyes

Germany has brilliant scientists, engineers, and soldiers. It sounds so cool when characters use German in their
magic incantations. Good beer too.
