I actually don't mind talking about politics. The problem, at least for me, is constantly having to re-explain simple positions. It seems that every interaction I have with a liberal European is at least initially centered around having to "prove" that I'm not their conception of an ignorant American.

Yeah, I get that. I'm sure that'd be annoying, too. Although TBQH I feel that Americans are typically looked down upon in parts of Europe, whereas Euros here probably suffer from stereotypes that aren't as intimately demeaning.

No, I dislike Germans because they're personality-less bores. Exceptions do exist, of course, but 9/10 Germans I've met have been soulless vampires.
