Interactive media is the way of the future and will be seen as a legitimate art form in our lifetime.
That said I am a grown up gamer and am pathetic, so maybe I am not the right person to ask.

You probably shouldn't spend your adulthood playing video games. It's ultimately not worth it.
Develop skills in your free and leisure time.
I always end up feeling better about myself if I sink my time into something practical and intellectually stimulating as opposed to playing video game--all genres included. I also understand some, hopefully a small minority of people, aren't like this.

Lots of people who are older and more mature than me watch shows on TV aka the "idiot box". I just stopped watching TV completely and have a different source of entertainment instead. I don't consider myself any better or worse than them.
