What is your country's Detroit?
Here it's Łódź.
What is your country's Detroit?
Here it's Łódź.
Looks like a clean shithole, so it's not that bad.
it can be dirty in some places but it's more about ruined buildings and dying industry
Ostrava. It used to be a mining town. Then the Velvet revolution happened and coal mining stopped getting subsidized. So now the town is full of commies reminiscing about the glory days.
Berlin, Düsseldorf, Offenbach
>Berlin
Isn't it full of hippies along with minorities?
Marseilles. It's the former counterweight of Paris, the cultural capital of occitent, the half south of France, an industrial powerhouse and a major trade hub of the mediteranean.
Now, just what Alger would be if there were no cops nor jobs.
I'm pretty sure Balbriggan has the highest percentage black population here so I'll go with that
We don't have any cities that would be exceptionally run down or anything but the entire rural part of the Latgale region is simply dying out. All the young people flock to the cities or emigrate, the old farts die off and Scandinavian owned factory farms buy up the land that hasn't been too run down yet gradually forcing the few remaining people off it. Hundreds of former villages just lying there with no people
Wait. Is Detroit still the worst city in America?
It's Trbovlje, once a mining town now full of old, poor people mostly of Bosnian/Serbian descent living in commieblocks
It has the highest chimney in Europe tho
Well yeah, just like Detroit
Why is it dying?
my whole country is one big detroit.
Doesn't look bad
Rotterdam used to have a Detroit like reputation but nowadays it's doing pretty great again.
probably a great lakes city with a lot of crime like thunder bay or hamilton
Probably. I heard Cleveland is close and than there are the countless bumfuck nowheres spread around the country.
faveLA is worse than Detroit
St. Louis is by far the worst I think. It has a higher murder rate than some narco controlled cities in LatAm
All Irish towns pretty much look the same. It's the Detroit of Ireland because of its high black population, some of which have started to form gangs and cause trouble
Yeah, St. Louis is worse.
>t. Kansas City user
A St. Louis user said that at multiple points in his life he has driven past taped off crime scenes where people most likely were murdered
>St. Louis is by far the worst I think
As far as murders, yes.
Detroit is slowly coming back, here's that once abandoned house that been shown hundreds of times here.
Detroit needs workers but has a bad reputation and can't get people to move there
Who in his right mind would move to places like Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo and such if you can move to nicer places in the US with comparable or better economic opportunity?
Cleveland idk about the crime rate, but it's still an industrial dump. The Cuyahoga River was once so polluted that it caught fire. Also, their baseball team has the most Jow Forums mascot, Chief Wahoo
Not all business left detroit, I know that most American Auto HQs are located there
I know that but regardless people with valuable skills are wanted everywhere. Why move to Detroit if you can move to any other place?
I go to Detroit a few times a year, never had any problems.
It's not hard to avoid the bad parts, almost every big city in the world has a bad part.
It's not really much worse than any big city, I've had people try to rob me in Amsterdam, never in Detroit.
pernik
I'm just saying that places with a bad reputation don't attract people for a good reason. Over here hospitals in shithole areas have to close down since doctors aren't interested in living there as they can get a job in a nice town instead. Same applies to all the accountants, engineers and such these car companies want.
As for getting robbed in Amsterdam: it has always been one of the most crime ridden places in Europe. Even today it still is.
>Pernik
Lol, that's what gingerbread is called here. it's also slang for crack.
Great Yarmouth.
>piernik
The Detroit area has some of the best hospitals in the region, because of Uni of MI
Detroits reputation is one of it's biggest problems right now.
Have you ever considered it's not as bad as it's Jow Forums reputation?
I work for rich people, some live in Detroit, I maintain their summer homes, like mega rich, private jet type rich, have Porsches they drive 2 months a year.
Also all the rich people from the 3 sports teams, I work for a hockey player that lives there, he's a millionaire
Helsinki
are they both former industrial towns?
Helsinki had industry but the photo is from a shopping mall
Ostrava looks pretty good and it's look like town rulers know how to manage postindustrial terrains, it definitely is better than Łódź. But I'm silesian myself and I can be biased on that topic.
Charleroi
I've never actually been to Ostrava.
>idk about the crime rate
It's high because the city is over 60% black
>industrial dump
Maybe 50 years ago. Now there's no industry and no jobs
Ελευσίνα
Elefsina
Because Łódź's economy was based on textile industry that died in the 1990s along with collapse of communism and opening East Asian markets.
Tolyatti
Detroit is kind of coming back now with gentrification as are many other American cities that were lost over the last few decades.
The saddest thing about Łódź is that it has great potential as it has a big 19th century district full of beautiful European architecture, just it's unbelievably neglected.
Many streets would look like straight from Budapest if they were renovated
looks pretty shrekt to me
Malmö
Pretty much all of the city center looks like that
it could be a gem but now it looks terrible due to lack of money
I really wish some chinese investors came here and bought everything
Łódź was one of the biggest and richest cities of the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 20th century.
it was known for its capitalist palaces and factories
now it's just a bunch of ruins
Hypovisible dysconstructions
I love Leheli
That's where Laibach are from, isn't it?
>not Frankfurt
wew
liverpool if you mean general post industrial decline and lots of abadoned places
Somewhere like croydon if you mean lots of blacks
naples
>posting pictures from half a decade ago.
>calling 5 years "half a decade" to make it sound like it was long time ago
Detroit is inexpensive to live in and start a business. The climate is nice (if you like Midwestern climates) and its got a major international airport with other stuff.
Its like a smaller, shittier version of Chicago. Chicago has its own problems though.
Wallonia
I agree, Charleroi looks really horrible, definitely the poorest and the ugliest city in western continental Europe
Are there any places in Łódź to avoid? I'm sort of visiting there soon
>Are there any places in Łódź to avoid?
Pretty much everything except for the main street (Piotrkowska). Stick to this street and don't try to explore the surroundings.
It's not 90s anymore
It's safe pretty much everywhere, although there's not much to do outside of Manufaktura and the Piotrkowska Street, that's where the social life is.
But you don't really have to avoid any place, I used to walk through half of the city in the middle of the night and nothing ever happend to me.
Sad. Wouldnt have happened under communism.
Why are wh*tes so obsessed with Detroit?
But Eindhoven is our literal Detroit
My little cousin learned that in his geography book
Probably the shitty part of Madrid or Sevilla
We never had a city where the industry died that hard like detroit
