For example, I've heard on the news that a lot of nurses in the East of the country opt to work in Germany because the salaries are higher there (and they generally live close enough to drive back and forth anyway).

Not sure why the French opt to move to Spain. French unemployment is stupidly high, sure, but Spain is even worse. Even for "muh nice weather retirement" it makes little sense when Southern France exists.
