We have a bunch of indigenous brands instead of relying on western brands. Like Flipkart, Jio (it works but I fucking hate it, I prefer Vodafone), Lakme, Kingfisher etc.
Tata and Reliance are probably the more famous ones. I wouldn't know.

I knew they had that cool palm wine stuff but in my 2 weeks in sri lanka (I know it's a different country) I didn't see a single bar or see a single person drink alcohol. Plus you never see Indians in pubs herez just surprising

I didn't know that. Anyway, I think it's mostly the fact that we have a shit ton of people more than anything. Most brands will have a sizable group of consumers regardless of whether they are known outside of India or not. Couple that with the ever increasing number of brands and innovative products in our country, well, it's no surprise India is regularly in the top ten.
Every brand has value here.
I just checked, Jaguar and Land Rover are owned by Tata. So yeah, that makes sense.
There are enough of us that even a minority is still a large amount.
