Why do Protestants celebrate Christmas?

One of the biggest problems the Protestants had with Catholicism were its pagan origins, practices and, symbols and attireres. They wanted to ditch all the pagan related stuff and "purify" their religion. They also wanted to distance themselves from their antagonistic Catholic Church and its practices, which is why they made St Nicholas as the centre figure of Christmas, rather than Jesus. In England anyway. That was also the reason why they ditched All Hallows' or All Saints' Eve and came up with their own thing. Interestingly, they adopted a lot of Celtic pagan practices instead.

But what's even more important is that Christmas day, was formerly the day of a Roman Sun festival, adopted by the Catholic Church to be the day of the celebration of the birth of Jesus. As it is well known, Jesus was not actually born on the 25th of December, it is merely the designated day of the celebration of his birth, the date of which is unkown. The Christmas tree and placing a star on top of it are also pagan in origins which were adopted by the Catholic Church. Because of this, Protestants should really find the specific day and the pine tree with the star very problematic.

So why do Protestants celebrate Christmas? They ideally should've picked a completely different day and ditched the tree.

Protestantism a shitstorm theology lacking both the philosophical elegance of Orthodox Catholicism as well as the spiritual fullness of folk Catholicism. So you have watered down theology, watered down holy days, no coherence when it comes to icons, etc.

Brainlet Christmas trees weren't pagan or adopted by the Catholic Church.

It used to be a German custom only but was popularized in the 19th and 20th centuries by the media.

The same with st Nicholas, the Catholic Church never made Saint Nicholas the center of Christmas. It was originally about the celebration of Christs birth and merrymaking for that day the redeemer of humanity was brought to this world.

Only the puritans and English Calvinists banned Christmas because all types merrymaking(not just Christmas but plays, celebrations) were banned.

Continental European Protestants celebrated Christmas and Easter.

Limey you are not catholic because one of your kings wanted to cock block the pope and divorce some bitches.

all of that is bullshit though. there's no evidence christmas was ever a pagan holiday

that's what the protestants believe though.

Henry VIII actually followed most of the Catholic donctrine, he just made his own private version of Catholicism. It wasn't until later that England adopted Protestantism.

>Catholic Church never made Saint Nicholas the center of Christmas
I didn't say that though, I said the Protestants did that. St Nicholas was always supposed to put some presents in your shoes or stockings on the 6th of December
