Blackpilled, as the Jow Forumsacks would say. The media is using Casey's comments on the housing in Tipperary to deflect from the Traveller criticism.

>All of these are signs of a nation in decay; of a society and a democracy with structural problems so widespread and obvious that barely more than a third of the electorate bothers to participate
Was the turnout only 33%? Jesus fucking Christ.
>the more rural the polling station the greater the vote for Casey
Based rural Ireland trying to save the country from itself.
I'm really looking forward to the gender split. I'm going to bet 80% of women voted for Mickey D while 40% of men voted for Casey.
I have mixed feelings in the aftermath of the election. On one hand I don't mind that Michael D won; he's a competent President that will carry out the duties of office to a high standard. On the other hand, I'm pissed that every time the media mentions how well Casey did in the polls, they have to qualify it by saying that something that implies "he only did this well because racist boggers identified with his bigoted comments about the Travellers".
Does anyone know what they were quoting Casey as saying on the Presidental yoke on the TV this morning? Something stupid like "I'm a socialist and a capitalist"
essay due in 2 and a half hours. wish me luck. Still have a thousand words to write. gonna be utter shit.
Nice quads edition
Considering the way Miriam keeps attacking him, they probably took something that he said out of context. Dobson let me down by jumping to defend Higgins' not turning up to the debates.

I don't know what this is. How does it differ from the more rouge coloured variety?
Limerick along with Donegal apparently has high votes for him, with potential for topping the poll?
If the exit polls are anything to go by, and they're pretty reliable usually, we're golden as far as I'm concerned for 7 more years of Miggledy.
In all seriousness though, the polls are also a reason to be concerned. A businessman, with no previous engagement in politics, pulled away from the pack in terms of support at the last minute with bigoted comments and inciting hatred towards a minority? Sound familiar?
Regardless of his comments for a moment, politics can't be built on shared hatreds. We're supposed to be voting for people we think will make our world a better place, how can that be achieved if the change is rooted in narrowminded hatred?
We might be alright for now, but any businessman in Casey's position would see there's a demand for his style of "un-pc politics" and will likely seek to leverage this over the next 7 years. That's what's scary.

More apathy and internalised despair I believe.
>Limerick along with Donegal apparently has high votes for him, with potential for topping the poll?
What's even more interesting is that according to a report I heard there a while ago on the radio, in Dublin constituencies Casey is only doing well in polling booths that represent areas with halting sites and Traveller issues.
hate reddit
>How does it differ from the more rouge coloured variety?
Depression and a lack of hope that things will get better in contrast to the dearg variety that thinks if you can become aware of the issue, so can everyone else and things will sort themselves out.
>Limerick along with Donegal apparently has high votes for him, with potential for topping the poll?
It would be nice if he gets a majority in at least one county, especially if it's an urban area. Dublin needs a sharp kick up the backside, although I wonder how many non-Irish citizens weighted the vote there.
I'm guessing you got this from Jow Forumsireland but I'm struggling to find it. Link?
Scenario, a bunch of travellers start sniffing around you or your families property. If they attempted anything illegal such as trespassing or burglary, would you shoot them (provided you owned a gun)?
>redditors living in fear of opinions they don't like
Fine by me.
>although I wonder how many non-Irish citizens weighted the vote there.
I don't think you can vote in Presidential elections if you're not a citizen.
get out the leuku I keep sharp for just such an occasion and test my kenshi skills on them, little do they know I've been studying the blade for decades
We can call Casey voters what we like. They have voted for a racist, anti welfare, non tax payer. The real worry is the shift to this nasty populist discourse.
>I don't think you can vote in Presidential elections if you're not a citizen.
But just how many non-Irish have been made citizens in the past 20 years? Weren't something like 20,000 kids granted Irish citizenship instead of being deported since 2013 alone?
*teleports behind Traveller*
"Ya junkies junkies bastard ya"
Casey looking at 20% is consolation in the sense that it confirms how much people hate pikeys and will support someone who goes against them. Hopefully more politicians (with actual power preferably) will see this and decide to go against them too
>SF Councillors want to boycott the Eurovision because it's taking place in Israel
We should boycott the Eurovision because it's shit anyway.
>Hopefully more politicians (with actual power preferably) will see this and decide to go against them too
At the very most I can only see it empowering Independent rural TDs to take a vocal stance against Travellers (the Healy Raes, Mattie McGrath, etc). Urban independents won't want to alienate their voter-base by being perceived as "bigots", and for some reason none of the political parties are interested in taking a stance against a demographic of criminals, dole scroungers, tax evaders, and non-voters.
Okay, you hate pikeys. Now what? What is your solution. Don't answer with some silly hitler, gas chamber stuff, obviously that's not realistic. So what. It surely envolves a change in the way the services interact with them, but obviously being mean to them for the sake of it is stupid. Do we spend mroe money in an attempt to properly integrate them?
All you traveler bashers. What is your realistic solution to the problem?
>for some reason none of the political parties are interested in taking a stance against a demographic of criminals, dole scroungers, tax evaders, and non-voters.
The unelected estate that is the media would rip them to shreds if they target their golden geese.
>Was the turnout only 33%?
It would seem so. From what I can gather, rural polling stations had a better turnout than urban ones, but we don't have final figures yet.
It's a bit of a disgrace that so many people are unwilling to exercise their right to vote.
>The unelected estate that is the media would rip them to shreds if they target their golden geese.
But why does the media love Travellers so much? I understand their love of their other golden geese minorities, but the Traveller veneration has never made any sense to me. What do they gain from it?
Force them to settle.
No hand-outs.
Long jail sentences.
I wonder if a reform of the political powers would improve the turn-out.
>What do they gain from it?
A sense of smug superiority to the brainless racists, and a warm feeling in their chest.
Is this lifted from Jow Forumsireland too? Because I'm not sure how much they would like my "cut their benefits" and "empower the Gardaí and judicial system to deal with Travellers properly" approach.
He's like an evil merchant leprechaun
>judicial system to deal with Travellers properly
I don't think they'd be on our side even if they had the correct powers.
Traveller halting site on the front lawn of RTÉ's Donnybrook studio when?
Our judicial system needs serious reform anyway, not just when dealing with Travellers (especially with regard to sentencing and compensation payouts)
>Gets Michael D to order a removal in under 69 seconds.
It'll be a fun few weeks to watch more dirt come out about the lying leprechaun in charge, most of which the media will ignore.
>500K for being a retard
The Darwin Award sure has a nice monetary prize these days.
go to Argentina, find Hitler's grandson, make him taoiseach, give all the travellers typhus and low rations until they're gone
Apparently that Luas surfing claim was originally worth €4 million. It would seem that working for a living is an idiot's game. Just fall off a Luas and you're set for life.
Just their benefits? because I am sure that would be against a human rights convention. Similarly with the law, all equal and all that.
>Your opinion here is about as impactful as me saying that I don't agree Michael D isn't a goblin from Harry Potter
Is Michael D goblins?
>Similarly with the law, all equal and all that.
Apparently wanting to treat Travellers equally is a controversial sentiment, so I think we'll be fine.
This is exactly the trump effect.
I am not Irish but I've been here a while. I always enjoyed the fact that Ireland was free of the same phenomena other countries are going through including mine, as in a rise of racism, euroskeptism and a certain new breed of relaxed far right.
Then came the Irexit party. Then came Peter Casey and he did 20%.
Yous went through so much and achieved such victories with the last two votes.
Don't let the divide take yous over. Talk to others about it. Have a real debate. Before you know it the division might run deeper and someone like Casey will exploit it and drive a wedge in the middle of the country.
Ireland is growing, you will have challenges to face now like other countries have had. First one is about your integration model, how you would like to get immigrants to integrate as Irish citizens. This will be an integral question in the next few years...
Someone could very easily exploit issues like the housing crisis, homeless crisis, traveler issues, drug abuser issues and so on and use this to get into power and fuck shit up. We live in a pivotal era and what we do today will be of great
consequence to the next generations.
Like OP said do not dismiss opposing opinions as bigotry, encourage dialogue otherwise this will happen.
The fact that he had 20% is a telltale sign. Take it seriously before you end up with a far right party that regularly polls around this amount and gets on the second round of elections every time, threatening yous with an Irexit upon victory.
Gwan Ireland!
>First one is about your integration model, how you would like to get immigrants to integrate as Irish citizen
We don't
>I always enjoyed the fact that Ireland was free of the same phenomena other countries are going through
I like this part since it'll pamper a redditors innate "national feeling"/patriotism hearing that his country is special and would obviously be the cause of much mutual masturbation among those people, other examples of this sort of stuff would be the high they would've experienced at the prestige of Ireland being le first country to vote in fag marriage.
Meanwhile we've actually just being towing the line since the 90's.
>not Irish
>says "yous"
So this is the power of Dublin.
Nice reddit comment though. That place really is a loony bin.
careful now, lol
>I like this part since it'll pamper a redditors innate "national feeling"/patriotism hearing that his country is special
There was a reason the Blasphemy vote result was spammed all over the international news subreddits in the past 12 hours. Irish redditors have an innate inferiority complex that causes them to seek out the validation of other nationalities.
>"LOOK AT HOW PROGRESSIVE AND MODERN WE ARE!!!! PLEASE SAY NICE THINGS ABOUT IRELAND!! WE'RE NOT CATHOLIC, I SWEAR!"
It's been tragic watching a friend become more active on reddit and gradually falling into the same trappings and inferiority complex.

That inferiority complex is also the reason why Jow Forumsireland seems to be constantly in Brit-bashing mode (that an their large SF userbase). As much as /éire/ hates West Brits, we only really attack Brits themselves when we're actually discussing history or talking about Brexit.

He should invite all mythical creatures to join him in the Áras, those hobgoblin knackers could work.
I expect an open invitation for Travellers around the nation to tie up their caravans outside the Áras.

scrap that
I will be very disappointed in Michael D if he doesn't do this. His integrity is on the line. The only problem is, we'd never be able to get rid of them even after he leaves office.
That'll double the size of the zoo.
HIGH TEST
How do we answer the redditor question?
rude to talk about travellers like that, even if it’s accurate
for me? it's labour camps

Pay them in copper wire to get chemically castrated
Force them to live beside a Traveller-run abortion centre for 5 years.

Why stop with Travellers? Junkies should get a nice once-off payment too.
