Our "rz" and "ż" are indeed pronounced the same, but "rz" comes from soft "r", while "ż" comes from standard Slavic "ž". Basically, Polish has "rz" where other Slavic languages have soft "r" and "ż" where other Slavs have ž.

Ź is a completely different phoneme, it's soft "z".

English is harder to write to be honest. Our voices are kinda germanized. Of course the transcipt isn't 100%, because German pronounciation is much softer. For me other languages sound like people speak with half closed mouthes.

It's a religious dichotomy.
Poland and Lithuania are Catholic, and so they use the Latin alphabet, while all of the Cyrillic-writing countries are majority Orthodox, and so use Cyrillic (which I believe is based off of Greek, like Latin)

No idea why Czechia uses the Latin alphabet, though. When I went there, they seemed to be mostly atheist. Maybe they just never cared to make the switch. Or maybe there was an inquisition.
