For me:
I live downtown in a small city where I can walk, bike, or take uber. I spend ~$92 on average a month for uber/lyft.

Attached: car_culture.webm (720x480, 2.86M)

also, I should add that the benefits of stress free driving are terrific. I just tap a button on my phone, and within minutes, hop in the back seat, and get driven away by my personal chauffeur while I listen to an interesting podcast or some relaxing music.

Never again will I experience road rage, fear of road police, or any other demeaning form of existence placed on us by the automotive industry.

I’m in the northeast US. Very frugal.

Insurance about 120 a month for comprehensive.
Gas 20 a week.
Dependable older car (not flashy but paid off)

>MFW my dream car is vintage but not flashy and will cost me less than 20k...I really hope I make it.

I prefer the freedom of having my own vehicle and my job is a 20 minute drive from my house on an underused highway.

How do you pay so little unless you have no job or social life?

around 200 in total insurance + gas

I work from home (cloud engineer). So my costs are purely going out at nights/weekends.

this. about 3x less than uber would cost me

I rent a car for the 3-4 times a year I actually need one

$0

I ride my bike and use public transit.

Honestly? About 3 grand

im in a similar situation but ive begun to contemplate suicide
i just want to become a fucking lumberjack at this point
jesus christ please let me experience fresh air and sunlight and trees and grass and squirrels
why did you do this to me god
what sick joke is this
software development is a curse

nice. I also rent cars on occasion for weekend getaways. The money I save per month (~$200+) by not having a car lets me splurge on a nice airbnb/hotel for me and a female friend for the weekend.

>>gas?
$50/ month... I drive a company truck so they spend maybe $250/month
>>insurance?

toll roads

5-7k miles a year on my truck... 20k/year on the company truck

>any other forms of systematic ass rape that I missed?
depreciation

it's what you make of it. I live in a coastal city, so I have a water front, public parks, coffee shops/al fresco lunches that I take advantage of throughout the day.

Just take regular "outdoor" breaks and maintain your sanity.

you'd get run off within a week

>gas? $50 CDN every two weeks
>insurance? $208 CDN a month

>I spend ~$92 on average a month for uber/lyft.

calling bullshit unless you are a shut-in neckbeard NEET.

the average short commuter ride on Uber or Lyft is about $6-$12.

Assuming you're taking only a short little 1/4-1/2 mile skip hop and jump away from work, that's at least $6 each way... so $12 a day, 5 times a week, or 20 times a month. That alone is $240 a month... *before* tips.

Assuming you aren't a TOTAL social outcast and go out with friends maybe once or twice a week for dinner, drinks, etc, that's another $12-$24 a week added onto your bill of $240 every month (before tipping your drivers, of course).
tl;dr - $92 a month? Lmao. Fucking NEET.

$0. (i've only replaced a belt and a battery in the 5 years that i've owned it and i didn't really need to change the belt out at the time.)

i'm poor and live on the poor side of the city and i guess that is why my insurance always goes up.
with that said, it's still cheaper than any other insurance plan. when i first had geico, my 6month payment was $350.

>*before* tips.
wait wait wait
you have to tip these fuckers?
on TOP of the actual price?

are you trolling or have you just never stepped outside and participated in social life in the 21st century before

do you tip when you pick up chinese takeout?

Just sold my car today. I'm free!

$60 a week in gas. $600 a month reimbursed.
$100 a month for full coverage.
Fully paid off car with 50k miles on it.
No major repairs yet, but I have to oil change ($100) every other month.
$0 Parking, No tickets.

>Gas
$0, business pays for all my gas
>insurance
~$100/month
>car payments
$350/month 0% interest
>tickets
got my last ticket more than 10 years ago. I still drive like an absolute douchbag everywhere I go, speeding constantly. I'm not criminal-american, so that helps when I get pulled over.
>other ass rape
I have 5 cars, so maintenance and inspection also costs some money (lets say an average of around $100-150 a month depending on what wears out/breaks), depending on what I currently have registered for road use.

I'm not a poorfag so all this shit put together seems pretty cheap as a hobby + transportation

I don't eat Chinese takeout, but tipping is culturally less of a thing with east asians that at many Chinese restaurants there isn't even an option to tip.

But both apps have tipping built in, so when you open the app after your ride you are prompted to give a dollar or two to your driver. And I usually do, because

a) they've provided a service to me and have hopefully done it well. If they fuck up I don't tip.

b) they don't make shit for money and rely on tips to help cover gas/insurance costs

c) I'm not a hateful stingy asshole and/or poor

I make enough money that I don't care

Sold my evo a few years ago and bought a 2015 ducati panigale s, 3 years later I still get excited jumping on it.

$35 roughly on fuel p/week
$640 a year insurance
Bought it outright
Repair it myself, cost for parts only
Bike parking is free most place in sydney
Tickets???? Mostly speeding
$50 or so a month on maintenance

>implying I even look at how much gas costs
$120/m insurance
>having a car payment
$110 for a battery once. I drive a 2012 mazda, its at 90k miles now. all I do is put oil in it every 6 months, $40 at jiffy lube because I'm lazy.
$200/m parking
got 1 parking ticker for $40 once

I thought it was spelled penigale

might be in the states, panigale in aus

just joshing ya

you're not very good at this are you. see

>car
I just hire people to drive me around when i need to go somehwere

>I "work from home" (mechanical turk NEET)

Nice. I am trying to get there too. Think I am almost ready now.
