In my city is a huge uni with lot of students but nowhere a headshop selling stuff for weedsmokers etc
I think i could fill a niche
Do you have any tips, suggestions

you need a business plan. start with:
>rent cost on a suitable shop
>cost of stock (check alibaba)
>shipping stock (use a shipping agent)
>fixed costs like electricity, internet, insurance, staff, cleaning
>shop fitout costs
>marketing costs
I would suggest working on a margin (NOT markup but margin) of 60%. i.e. if a bong costs you $40 delivered to your store you should sell it for $100, 60% profit)
based on all those numbers work out how much you will need to turnover to be profitable and make your decision.
as starting capital investment I would suggest cost of stock + 6 months rent and fixed costs at the absolute minimum

yes absolutely but you will need to build in the interest repayments to your fixed costs
also be aware depending on the amount they may ask for security or a parental guarantee

Set up a simple but well designed website just telling customers what you have in stock. You'd probably do better doing online first though. You could even just deliver the goods to customers, give out cards to students etc

good look competing with pajeets and their indian blown glass. chinese glass is actually getting better too, although some of the other shit is still thin wall garbage.
only a small amount of people are willing to pay high price for good quality, american blown glass. you won't survive, especially off students with no money.

if he's the only headshop in town, then sure. he'll survive for a year or so until real competitors move in.

it depends on where you live and how you decide to run your business. if you can build connections, make your store stand out, become a chill place to hang out and think you can survive, then do it. there are so many headshops it's not a niche any more.

yeh at the beginning, better to set up a website than spend money on an actual shop. If there's demand then consider opening a retail store.
