Got kicked 2,5 years ago

makes sense

3.6 GPA, 3.9 GPA for my major but this semester’s gonna bring it down :/

something like 2 gpa, passing all tests and courses which matters more

Probably gonna fail a couple of subjects cause I was playing battlefield 1 instead of studying

Is gpa such a big deal in USA? Here nobody gives a fuck about grades. If you had exceptionally good grades its ofc a bonus and it will give you some + if you mention it at job jnterview, but if you pass just barely nobody cares as long as youve got the diploma

Why can't you guys handle a decimal point?
>2.5
not
>2,5

We all study things like gender studies so we have no marketable skills so GPA is the only thing that matters

Graduated two years ago with a 3.2

Its anglo convention to write 2.5 and euro/continental convention to write 2,5. He didnt write it wrong, it just looks like that to you ecause youre used to different style

For a job it really isnt that big of a deal as long as you get the degree, of course a better gpa is good, but you can always get a job without a good gpa if your degree is worth anything. Some companies require certain gpas for entry level jobs, commonly 3.0, some go as high as 3.5 or 3.8 Ive seen. GPA is a little more important for grad school as most PhD admissions for good schools will need 3.75+, maybe even 3.9+ is average for somewhere like Harvard or MIT. Although 3.5+ is fine for a lot of schools that arent the very top

For me it’s personal pride, to make my parents proud and prove I have a grasp on the material. If you have a 3.0 and higher people will respect though, not that it makes you a god something, but it’s not easy.

also gpa doesnt matter at all for jobs once you get one job working in your field

PhD programs dont give a shit about GPA as long as it's above 3, only things that matter are lab experience/writing experience/recommendation letters

It's medical/dental/law programs that care about GPA because the applicants usually have actual intellectual merit to be compared on.

Right, you are that Jow Forumsmutt.

have no actual intellectual merit*

e.g. they're all kiddies who got good grades all their life but can't solve basic problems without being handheld

pretty comfy, his major/classics minor
second year right now, sitting at a ~82% avg this semester compared to 78% in both of my first year semesters
wanna get into University of Edinburgh for my graduate program so i need to get my average to at least an 80

Nah PhD programs have GPA requirements of 3.5 and the averages are 3.9+ for top schools. 3.8 is good enough for most schools though. Low ranked schools might accept 3.0 I guess. I am talking about engineering and physics related programs so maybe for other fields it is different

Bad, I just can put any effort into my studies and I have realized that I have little to no passion for my career.
I'm changing majors next year.

can't*

graduate programs in the humanities start at 3.0 and generally only go up to 3.75 for requirements in places like Oxford
however, networking and especially references do matter

I am applying there next year for grad school, good luck

going good so far, although physiology is a struggle

What parts of physiology are you struggling with?

noice, what program/field if i may ask?
MSc in Late Antique, Islamic and Byzantine Studies for me

spot the ch*nk

Went from econ to statistics myself last year. Changing majors might have been the most nerve-wrecking thing I've ever done, specially having gotten good marks, but now I am much happier since I actually enjoy what I am studying. Godspeed fren.

Was going to major in history but then one day I got one too many emails about the new Black Latinx Gender Violence classes and dropped it for biology.

Thanks, fren.
I think that the major problem that I had encountered while making this decision was my father's opinion. I was kind of surprised to see that he accepted despite his complains, it's comprehensible though it would be a shocker if your child says that he's leaving engineering for medicine in Peru.
Can't wait for next year.

not in uni, just trying to get my GED
