Canada has resisited Americanisation throughout its history, in fact it was largely founded by people who rejected America. I wouldn't be suprised if Canada is no more American than many other western nations.

Australia is far more stuck up America's ass than Canada is, UK arguably so. We actually have actively avoided Americanisation inasmuch as is possible. I'm a bit surprised by France though. In reality it's just a slow news day and Trump is great clickbait which is why he is pictured and named in Canada, Australia, and the UK's headlines despite it not being his election.

That depends on your definition of "American". Politics? Maybe. But culturally they are almost the same. Most parts of Canada along the border (the livable parts that is) look just like the US. Same stores, same food, similar neighborhoods, similar accents, etc.

That's lifestyle, not culture, and in that regard you often resemble us as much as we resemble you. Much of it is also geography and resources rather than one group borrowing something from the other. Culturally we are quite different in that Canada has very little unique culture and is basically just an extension of western Europe whereas America has a unique culture.

Deeper culture is things like societal values, perceptions of ourselves and our role in the world around us, ideas about fairness, human rigjts, etc. This is of high emotional resonance and is difficult or near impossible to change.
Very deep down are things like tolerance for pain and concepts of time. These are basically impossible to change and are almost genetic.

At the surface Americans and Canadians are very similar, often identical, and at the very deep end as well. In the middle though we differ quite a bit. While Canada tends to resemble Europe more, America has a culture mostly unique to themselves (though there is a lot of overlap with things like sense of humour, learning styles, body language, etc).

We're just about as successful as it gets, in no small part because we play the nice guys. I will never understand Canadians that look at America and envy it. Our firearms laws have made us the safest country on this side of the planet while still being a top 10 country in the world for gun ownership, America's have made them the most dangerous country in the western world. As for freedom, Canada scores higher than America (often much higher), on the Human Freedom Index, Democracy Index, Index of Freedom in the World, Press Freedom Index, Corruption Perceptions Index, and in terms of literal freedom, they have the highest incarceration rate in human history.
