Flevoland is an irrelevant shithole and is filled with foreigners and people who can't afford to live in Noord/Zuid-Holland. Its lack of history also might have something to do with it, since it only has existed for around 50-60 years (it is land reclaimed from the water for the most part). I personally don't see much other reasons to shit on it when places like Friesland exist.

It's the only prairie we have, and it's very underpopulated and dry and hot, so people there have to retire to the shade during the lunch-time when they are herding cattle, so they've got marked as lazy by everyone.

Since they have a nasal-y drawl, it compounds on them and are always the butt of the joke. All of them are pretty nice people in my experience, but the accent makes them sound so fucking dumb, even if they aren't.
