in the uk the left wing have always had a bit of a reputation for being more tolerant to antisemitisim and I'd have thought this would be the case across europe at least in countries that aren't pro-israel, anti-islam criticism is slightly less common because it tends to get branded as racism if done poorly although that said it might explain germany's hesitation to criticise judaism
catholicism is treated worse than protestantism here but mostly since protestants don't do a lot of things that really garner criticism

Catholicism is a single set up beliefs that you can't dispute and until recently were enforced by the state in Catholic areas of the world. None of these beliefs are at odds with creating a functional society or with science. This is similar with many old-school European Protestant churches. Most European Protestant countries had state churches as well, so there was social pressure to belong to these churches.

Now once we get to America we have no state church and max religious freedom (not a fan of Catholics tho), so (thanks to Sola Scriptura) anybody who wants to can create their own new brand of Protestantism (or go even beyond Protestantism with batshit Restorationist sects like Mormons or JWs). A shit-ton of wackos who were otherwise fairly unsuccessful and looked down upon in Europe decide to immigrate to America and add to the mess. You combine this with the slavery debate, liberalism, manifest destiny, belief in American exceptionalism, culture of independence, emphasis on "personal" religion (many American evangelicals shop around for the church that best matches their lifestyle and political outlook), the Social Gospel, reactions to new scientific discovery, early 20th century Progressivism, and the social changes of the 60s and you get the mess of contemporary American Christianity.

Evangelicals are actually really good for reading the bible, they don't have devotionals or a lot of other religious practices so all they do is go to bible study.
