>As they began planning their future together, Ashley Brown and her fiance, Aaron Shuman, concluded that they could no longer remain in Los Angeles because it was getting much too expensive.
>"Our rent in L.A. was $1,500 for a tiny, 650-square-foot apartment with no amenities," says Brown, 29, a native New Yorker, actress and New York University graduate. She and Shuman, a 28-year-old musician, began looking at Austin, Detroit, Portland, Oregon, and Columbus, Ohio, before settling on Atlanta.
>Nashville, Sacramento, Atlanta, Phoenix, Austin and Dallas are among the top-10 cities with the largest influx of new residents, according to new data from the Redfin real estate brokerage.
>The highest percentage of Atlanta's and Nashville's new residents are from New York City. New residents in Phoenix, Dallas and San Diego are mostly from Los Angeles; Portland's and Austin's new residents are largely from San Francisco
>"Even though rents are rising faster in secondary cities like Nashville, Austin and Atlanta than in New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles, they were lower to begin with," Kunes said. "Rents are up 3.7 percent in Nashville this year, compared to the long-term nationwide average increase of 2.2 percent per year

thoughts?

Yeah I have the same problem. I did finally get my key though. still need to go to IKEA. too many books and no shelves

mornin bud

planning on eating
yeah that's about all my plans for today

i'm too lazy to take all my books/dvds out of boxes since it's not like i'll read them or watch them again, and if i do it will just be digital copies usually. still need to put the boxes away though.

abandoning serfdom was a mistake

>Another major challenge for many of these cities is the lack of public transit, particularly a rail network.

>Proposals are in place in Atlanta to build 21 miles of light rail and 18 miles of bus rapid transit lanes, but that can take years to accomplish. In Nashville and Austin, voters in recent years rejected public transit plans because of the increased tax burden required to pay for such systems.

>In Dallas, funding is still an obstacle to plans to expand a downtown subway system and a commuter rail line. City officials there also are looking into streetcars and bus lanes as a traffic solution.

>"It will be interesting to see how these cities handle transit options over the next decade," Walter said. "Some cities have been proactive and have put in dedicated bus lanes or rail already, and they'll handle growth better. Cities that don't address transportation issues will likely see growth slow in future years."

Look at what they're doin? Come on now. we don't have debt issues like the big cities because we know money doesn't grow on trees. Coming down here with their public works projects which we all know is scam if CA and IL are any indication for public works.

mornin'.
I still need to. got my coffee here, readin the news.
I got a lot of books I use to reference info. like founding fathers stuff, DSM 4, programming, finance equations, text books etc. I just end up needing them sometimes.

>yanks are too stupid to learn from their mistakes
we know

I really don't like them.

not even yanks like other yanks
why do you think they're so shocked when they come here and find out that we're nicer than they are

why dont yanks like nice guys like us

because they're busy fucking chad

We live in a society where foreigners prefer jerkoff rude asshole yanks instead of nice gamer southerners like us FUCK YOU EUROS WE'RE NICER
SOUTHERNERS RISE UP BITCH

It not that I think they're all the same, I don't. Its that they come down here and try to do things that were done in their old state that *made* their old state worth leaving; particularly with social and economic programs. Lot of them come from broken states that tried to spend away their problems. And thats not even touching how they try and sir up race tensions where they move into the south in large numbers. I'm not talking about one person here, I'm talking about the group think of a hive. I think an individual can be reasoned with.
50 years of media bias

just spent 3 hours getting my tags renewed
>go to dmv
>system goes down while im talking with the lady
>pull up assessment paper on my phone
>missing a signature and stamp
>she sends me to the assessors to pay my taxes
>already paid them months ago and already assessed
>get to assessor
>get assessment paper
>to go tax collector
>tell her the DMV told me i need to pay them off
>she tells me i've already paid them and that the assessors emailed me a stampless copy on accident
>go back to DMV
>get tags finally
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Packing my bags to leave for the Alps next week and packing those to leave for a 2 nights rave tonight
Cleaned the house a bit and bought a baguette too

>yanks can be reasoned with
they can't and that's why states should be allowed to have immigration controls of their own

if I had one wish it would be that an open source community tackled the issues of the DMV. All that shit could be automated
>brought a baguette too
so clever

Innit

I'm at this weird place where I hate Trump but I also hate people who hate Trump

like trump but i hate people who like trump

This tbqh.

this but unironically

Trump is #NotMyPresident

Macron is my President

yall want an example thats current and up to date of what I'm talking about? Right now I'm in TX if you didn't know. As you know elections just passed but leading up to them and there was all this fuss about TX going blue. But it didn't so why did they think it would? Cause they've been moving down here in caravan fashion immigration. You get the paper and see what bond initiatives were passed.
>help the homeless
>help the minorities
>public transportation works
>promote beautification projects
Billions of dollars in bonds.. with a B... let that sink in. someone is going to be stealing a lot of money. How do I know? Because the people voted in used to hold offices in CA of other liberal west coast city.

so when is jupiter finally going to liberate the world from the burden of the germans

agreed
absolutely FED tier

Just waitin for Merkel to step down in 2020

hey whats with Macron talking all tough about a euro army? yall gettin an army?

bless him

based blues

Attached: kansas.png (267x292, 7K)

>merkel
she's just a human slug who believes in communism without admitting it publicly
why were east germans allowed to hold office after the fall of the berlin wall?

>Trump
>anti-fed
meme

american presidents have been encouraging euros to step up since the end of the cold war since the public wants to stop being world police. it took a break with the iraq war but we're accelerating our withdrawal again

thast how it looks to me. I know its a pipe dream but I hope all euros get a second amendment while their at it.

Idk he's mostly wind anyway, not unlike Trump he keeps saying controversial shit so people will waste their energy while proper issues are silenced by this

>implying the euros have guns they need to protect
lmao

>Implying it's about policing the world and not watching over the USA interest

And that's understandable
Just saying I'm pretty sure you could have stopped foreign interventions a long time ago if you wanted, I doubt it's because we don't have a huge army

Can't wait to embalm Krauts again

Attached: gauls.png (937x747, 524K)

>if you wanted
>implying we have control over our government
also realpolitik it's about protecting our interests but americans just want to stop the military adventurism

Attached: cnn_admits_trump_winning.jpg (1242x1119, 95K)

>really did embalm the severed heads of enemies
everyone knew this though, they embalmed them in cedar oil and would hang them over doorways and mantles as trophies

I still prefer scalping. Having a trophy that looks back at you is 2spooky4me.

god i wish i had a german trophy head onahole

You're getting me wrong. I'm talking about just having the right to bear them.
>stopped foreign interventions
I was reading a really good article last night on China's dealings in Euro land and how there are these constant misunderstanding and insults on both sides. Example Sweden:
>be Chinese and book Swedish hotel room for the 15th
>show up late night on the 14th and demand room
>Hotel tells you no. your room is reserved for next day.
>complain so loudly that Swedish call police.
>police escort you out.
>Go to Chinese embassy and complain that your human rights were violated
>Chinese embassy uses instance to grand-stand in front of Europe at how inhumane Swedes are with human rights
>Swede turn it into a comedy sketch to mock China
Anything like that where you are?

scalping is an injun thing though

the gauls were based, they'd cut the heads off of their fallen foes, tie them to the mane of their horse, and when they got home they would tie the heads up over their doorwars, the important trophies would be embalmed

also they loved to loot tons of gold and silver and other valuables, but the wealth was more disposable as votive offerings to gods and local spirits and as gravegoods (that is to say their loot was gathered for prestige and then disposed of ritually)

By you I mean the USA of course, just like you can say You while talking about the French government even though I'm not currently in the Elysées choosing the fate of the French

Yeah if I was American I'd prolly like to stop as well after all the shit that went down ever since WW II and Irak

I just thought you made it sound like Europeans not having a superpower army was THE reason the USA kept being the world police, which to me is mostly a comfortable pretext to keep sending troops worldwide, knowing very well we wouldn't have a Euro army before decades if at all

I guess I'm rather satisfied with the current state of the French military when compared to the rest of Europe. I don't really have an opinion about a unified Euro army.
I think the people are past old resentments and would not be willing to fight their neighbours again, but a unified army is another story

>I think the people are past old resentments and would not be willing to fight their neighbours again

Western Euros that is, the Balkans and eastern Euros are something else

got me on a gallic kick rn
gonna go get my book on celtic texts and post gaulish inscriptions
brb

>that is to say their loot was gathered for prestige and then disposed of ritually
Interesting. Was it like a rule that you couldn't keep gold and stuff for your own purposes or did they just not really see it as intrinsically valuable?

Noice

Attached: Brennos figure de proue.jpg (682x1023, 127K)

>eu not having an army is why we're world police
no, the EU is getting an army because we want to pull out of Europe
EU doesn't have an army atm because we promised to be there to fight if you ever needed it.
also i don't think the EU army would do very well, just seems that with the state of EU bureaucracy the army would be equally as fucked

>eu not having an army is why we're world police

As I said this is how I understood your first post here never said it was my opinion, on the contrary

not so much a rule as it was a cultural thing you aspired to, they certainly valued precious metals and the romans noted that the gaul nobility wore an excess of gold and jewels to show their status
so in the same sense that the grandest and most well respected chieftains in gaul would throw huge feasts for their clan and the public, the same chiefs wanted to be known as the men who would have the most lavish funeral with the most loot he would be buried with or the man who gave the most gold to the river/sacred grove
outside the villages of most gauls, there would be seperate piles of weapons, armor, skulls, etc. from their raids they would leave out to show how fierce they were

it was all about prestige

these are from The Celtic Heroic Age; Literary Sources for Ancient Celtic Europe and Early Ireland and Wales
they are two inscriptions known to be in gaulish, one tablet being written by men asking for luck in an upcoming war/battle the other deposited at the grave of a woman and has to do with a group of sorceresses

>{Names of Gauls]
>And it is the destiny of the victor to which they shall be destined; the centre when he sows it shall be whole, and I right the wrong blindly thus by means of this tablet of incantation I shall see what shall be. By Lugus I prepare them; by Lugus I prepare them, by Lugus I prepare them, By Lugus.

Barber is fully booked until I leave for Savoy
Fuck I should have taken an appointment before

Here what I think is the sorceress one, in music youtube.com/watch?v=ya-zOiiCd6U

one of the perks of being a shut in neet is there's no need to go to the barber

just trim it all then
and where's my (you)

Here but you forgot first

yeee
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larzac_tablet

The Larzac tablet is a lead curse tablet found in 1983 the commune of L'Hospitalet-du-Larzac, Aveyron, southern France. It is now kept in the museum of Millau. It bears one of the most important inscriptions in the Gaulish language.

The inscription is in Roman cursive on a lead tablet preserved in two fragments, dated to about 100 AD. It is the longest preserved Gaulish text, extending to more than 1000 letters or 160 words (an unknown number of lines at the end of the text are lost). The curse tablet was excavated from a grave of La Vayssière necropolis, just north of the village of L'Hospitalet-du-Larzac, close to the ancient Roman road from Condatomagus (Amiliavum, Millau) to Luteva (Lodève), at the time crossing the provincial border between Gallia Aquitania and Gallia Narbonensis.

The text cannot be translated with any certainty, but it is clear that its nature is that of a magical curse, cast in the "world of women", presumably by one group of women or sorceresses against a rival group. The placement of the curse tablet in a tomb is not unusual in the Greco-Roman world; the tomb was considered a gateway by means of which the curse would reach the infernal deities charged with its execution. The fragmentation of the tablet may also be intentional, performed by its original authors, as part of the ritual "burial" of the curse to send it on its way to the underworld. The magic invoked is clearly malicious, of a nature well attested from other parts of the Celtic world, notably Irish mythology. Sisterhoods of sorceresses or witches are also known to have existed in ancient Gaul on the authority of ancient ethnographers; thus, Pomponius Mela (III, 6, 48) records a college of nine priestesses capable of invoking tempests and adopting animal form among the Osismii, while Strabon (IV, 4, 6) is aware of a convent of women of the Samnitae possessed by Dionysus, installed on an island of the Loire.

That's close from home, part of the Larzac plateau is located in Hérault

Too bad Breton language came from Britain and isn't very related to Gaulish

ye, gaulish was basically wiped out except for placenames and y'all got ROME'd

interestingly enough, gaelic, being a celtic language in reasonable isolation, is the closest linguistic relative of latin that isn't descended from latin

*yawns REALLY loudly*

I know associating megaliths and Celts is usually wrong but here's one not far from the Larzac

Attached: Causse de Blandas menhir (Gard).jpg (1600x905, 454K)

>also an armchair linguist
>can't contribute to the discussion

Tell us some random linguist thing you know then

თქვენ ვერ უმკლავდება ხარისხს
the celts saw them as spiritual places normally though
i don't know a lot about linguistics, but i know enough about bronze and iron age europe to know a little about the celtic and romance regions to sort of keep up with the spread of roman culture and language is a good chunk of that

Balto-slavic languages are closer to indo-iranian languages than Romance or Germanic languages

That's cool, did you study it in college or something? Also, do you have reccs?

you can always conspire with me to make the south rise again.

hope not

thought they boiled it all and just kept the skull
sorry i meant WE
also read once that the top druid would drink wine from the most vertuous head in ceremonies but that seems a bit too metal to be true

i have read that the tomorrow morning of every battle they would come to take the best warriors' heads

>sorry i meant WE

Based

gallic more like garlic

>Too bad Breton language came from Britain and isn't very related to Gaulish
it is (or was) at least very close to the celtic they spoke in armorica
the two peoples knew each others for a while

Slav languages though have a big influence of Greek which gives them much in common with Latin languages.

funny thing about language the gauls were too autistic to say "si" (yes) like normal people and they said "hoc ille est" (that is it) instead like they probbly said in gaulish
from it comes oïl and oc (oui in modern french) that's why we dont say si like r*manoids

actuallly we still say si for if or to contradict negative questions or statement but still

nah when i was in college i mostly studied ww2, latin america, and cold war africa/asia
ancient history is something i picked up after
as for recs, The Ancient Celts and Europe Between the Oceans both by Barry Cunliffe, Celtic Myths and Legends by T.W. Rolleston, Myths and Symbols in Pagan Europe by H.R. Davidson, Celtic Gods and Heroes by Marie-Louise Sjoestedt.
Then there's a bunch of art and archaeology books too but the former is mostly pictures of artifacts and design forms, the latter is dry as fuck and I drudged through it.
Yeah afterwards they would go back to camp and feast and celebrate. A lot of times gaulish women would accompany them, and at the back line of the battle the women would cheer and wait with daggers, then kill any cowards that fled the battle.

the romans claim the gauls loved to speak in riddles and the drove them up the fucking wall
they thought the gauls were savages and crazy, but in a suicidally brave kind of way they kind of admired
they didn't have great relations with the celts but they actually preferred them to the other barbarians to the south and east

tfw no thicc gaulish girl to punish me

i wonder if the gauls had bodypaint and what it looked like

It's a book I already recommended to you I think but in pic related you hear quite a lot about Romans and their barbarian neighbours in the first quarter of the book dedicated to the woods

Attached: Landscape and Memory.jpg (1108x1510, 946K)

I may be wrong but I read some sometimes went to battle naked with warpaints

i knew about the naked thing
tfw no naked bodypainted gaulish warrior gf

yeah they used it, the gauls definitely went into battle naked a lot, and had berserkers
a lot of their higher warriors would use chainmail though (which the celts invented)

yeah i have that one, in the middle of Discovery of France right now

Made you buy 2 books then, I hope you won't regret them
How's Discovery so far ?
Landscape and Memory is a rank higher imo, it's not as easy to read as Discovery but it's really in depths, although it may just be because English isn't my first language

zzz

yea ur english is shite

Tfw had better English grades in high school than my half English half French friend
My papers from back then are better written than my 4chins posts
