Why did Italians fall out of grace so hard after the Renaissance? They had their moments in the 15th century and prior, but as the 16th century began, European thought started being dominated by Western Europeans(British, Dutch, French, German) instead.

anglo pirates

Dominated maybe not but they still continued to contribute a lot with thinkers like Galileo, Torricelli, Fermi, Gramsci, Maiorana, Croce etc...

germans keeping them down

Also Volta, Lagrangia

And if we're talking about artists well:

Rossini, Caravaggio, Vilvaldi, Pergolesi, Puccini, Verdi, the list continues

>Lagrangia
WE

>Western Europeans

Italy IS Western European, you hamburger eater.

>tfw no boipuccini to fug

He literally was born in Turin

Obviously, he's not using the Cold War definition of "Western European", but the actual geographic one. Are you being daft on purpose?

He was born in Italy, you just stole him from them like you did with Curie

He was half-French though, and did most of his work in France.

In Curie's case, it's not France's fault it was such an attractive country for scientists. But unlike Lagrange, I wouldn't claim her as French.
It would be wise not to forget that her French husband contributed just as much to the research though.

He was 1/8 French, and did the bulk of his work, like analytical mechanics, in Prussia, while writing in French. Only later in life he moved to France
A true, model European

>half french
Only his paternal great grandfather
Then he married an italian, who married an italian, who married an italian and made lagrange

He also got his higher education in turin.
But if you consider joule (an englishman) french, then I guess you could also consider lagrange french.
France was de facto the USA of 18th/19th century. And people consider e.g. Einstein as an american, not a german.

They had their peak during that time, thats it. Its normal, they still were and are relevant.

>portugal is west europe

>And people consider e.g. Einstein as an american, not a german.
Not really, most people I know consider him German

>but as the 16th century began, European thought
What does "thought" mean? If you're referring to arts in general, our relevance well extends beyond that date.

>And people consider e.g. Einstein as an american, not a german.
lol wut?

>italians
Literally only tuscany and padania

Portugal is north africa

Posts like these are why mutts should be range banned.

Verga and Capuana were pretty good

And desu if he wasnt forced out from Germany by germans themselves, everyone would consider him German.

The fact is that France at that time was literally a magnet for thinkers, just as Usa was in the past century, especially in front of a fallen and poor italian peninsula. People usually associate lagrange with france, but it's correct to remember that he was actually from italy (piedmont-sardinia), as he was born and lived there until after his higher studies.
For the ethnical point of view, i don't say anything because it's useless and only for true gran autismos imo, it's not like you cross a border and the people instantly change, but it's correct to say that he was mostly "italian", rather than "french", whatever that means ethnically.

Maybe because Italy wasnt even a country
