It's mainly paranoia from my part, so take it with an extreme grain of salt, since I don't have anything to back it up except my, honestly, very understandable suspicions considering the guy behind it.

Anyway, the Mexican wolf-dog is obviously a hybrid, I imagine that between Xoloitzcuintles with fur (around 10% of them are born with fur) and wolves. Again, this is speculation, since I don't know its exact genealogy other than the fact that it is a wolf-dog, and that the people behind it are also the ones behind the biggest breeding grounds of Xolos in the world. So, the guy behind all of this, Jorge Hank Rhon, is basically one of the biggest mafiosos (not exactly a drug lord, but a mafioso type of guy) in the country, with huge ties to previous corrupt governments, since he was born in an incredibly prominent and corrupt political family. He has been credibly, I repeat, credibly, accused of killing journalists, embezzlement, fraud, and all sorts of corrupt shit throughout his life. He owns casinos, football teams, dog breeding grounds, etc. etc. while his brother owns banks and other millionaire stuff; but one of the main reasons he has been known throughout the years, is exotic animal trafficking, specially species in danger of extinction. Some of his people have been caught with tiger cubs or gorilla fur-coats among other things. Remember Willy the Orca, from Free Willy? Well, before becoming worldwide famous and eventually dying in the wild after some stupid attempts at reintroduction, that Orca, named Keiko, was rescued from very poor conditions in an amusement park in Mexico City. There are rumours that claim Hank-Rhon was the one responsible from bringing it to Mexico.

So, I have come to fear, on my own account, that Hank Rhon might have illegally used Mexican wolves, that are practically extinct, in order to create his own dog breed since he has been obsessed with dogs for decades. Mexicali is a lot safer, but there's literally nothing to do there. It's also the hottest city in Mexico by far, with temperatures between 40-50 C being the norm. It slightly depends on the region of Mexico (North, South, Centre), but in general, Mexicans in the US are slightly more native than the ones in Mexico. The differences are mostly a meme in most cases tho.

I don't run into more native looking Mexicans as much on the border (El Paso, Laredo, Eagle Pass, Del Rio) as in Mexico, not even here in San Antonio.
