Why do Russians do this?

Russians are a European people. Eastern "Russia" (i.e. Siberia) is just territory the Russian people conquered. Defining yourselves as "Asian" or "Eurasian" because you conquered land in that area is ridiculous

Russia is an amalgamation of East and West. First Swedes invited in to rule the local Slavic people around Kiev, then forming a decently sized kingdom which was overrun by the Mongols and ruled by them for a good while, during this period the Muscovites rose to prominence over the Kievan Rus. After the Russians kicked out the Mongols, they started conquering territory in order to create buffer zones east ward to protect their vulnerable open farmlands from Central Asian invaders. There is a period of time where the Russian czars wanted to be more European, as the Europeans were seen even by Russians as more advanced, and this was a period where illiteracy was very common among the majority of rural Russians. Saint Pertersburg was made as a "window to the west" and styled after Europeans cities. There is also the important detail that Russians historically are Orthodox Christians, as eastern Christianity, that even during the time of the Byzantines stood apart from most of Europe.

The Russians don't even know where they belong, east or west, and have since the end of Mongol rule argued back and forth amongst themselves about it. Some mourned their western civilization being destroyed by Mongols and wanted to go back to that, while others argued that the Mongols had made them the warriors they had become. Trends towards either side of the argument changes depending on time period. A lot of thinkers have also argued for Russia being unique due to it's mixed history, and that Russia needs to find it's own way rather than try to be like everyone else.

But actually your claim isn't true at least by your country. If no one would stop Russia, you would invade as much as possible. You are just as much globalist as Usa.
