100 years ago, the 5 year long Great War ended. What did your country do during the war
WW1 ENDS: 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
made money
The end of an Era. What we consider the modern age began today a hundred years ago.
got btfo in middle east
killed bunch of gayreeks, armenians etc
JUST
Profited off of dead wh*tes
Got independence from the Kra*ts and the R*ssians.
God why did we not split it into thousands of pieces?
>we
cringed pretty hard
idk, ww1 was always glossed over because it's fucking boring
>WW1 is boring
t. low IQ
The Americans stopped the based French from doing just that. France wanted to split Germany back up into the Holy Roman Empire states after WW1.
>Germany defeats France in 1871
>takes one majority German province
>France is part of the alliance that defeats Germany in 1918
>wants to entirely dismantle Germany
makes one think
OH NO NO NO NOOOOOO
More like POLE'D
It makes me think that the Americans are the true cancer for being too lenient on you.
give it back
we shouldn't have been so nice to you in WW2 desu
A German soldier shot my Great Grandfather and my Great Grandmother so you weren't.
Got independence from the R*ssians. Fought a brutal civil war. Received military assistance from Germany - there were plenty of strings attached but they were severed when they lost the war.
My cunt was invaded and occupied by yours
What point could we look at and say this is the beginning of the new world order
reminder the 1871 indemnity on France was worse than the 1918 indemnity on Germany
reminder France PAID the 1871 indemnity and didnt chimp out over it like Germans did
We thought Germans could be trusted. We were trying to be nice. I'm sorry Poland
Lived in peace
Germany didn't take non-German lands from France in 1871.
Germany didn't take any colonies from France in 1871.
Germany didn't impose any military restrictions on France in 1871.
but it's RAINING and I DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING!
The modern era began with the Enlightenment & industrialization, not trench warfare
>The Americans stopped the based French from doing just that
Wilson was right though. In fact it was the only thing he was ever right about, because that traitorous faggot implemented the income tax on Americans.
France wanted punitive measures on Germany, but by far the most punitive was occupying the Rhineland, which was Germany's most profitable region (also its war machine region, to be fair). Crippling the Rhineland meant crippling the entire German economy, which lead to unemployment, anger, and ultimately the rise of the Nazi Party. France, quite simply, was wrong.
It stands to history that the USA's solution, the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), postwar has lead to the EEC, the European Union, and decades upon decades of peace in the region. We pointed a gun at France and Germany and they have made peace, without France having to occupy the Rhine forever. You can hate the USA for invading Iraq, you can hate us for mis-using the NSA to spy on German windmill companies, you can hate us for playing dirty in South America supporting fascist capitalists over democratically-elected commies, fine, those are all legitimate. But the USA's crowning achievement in the 20th century was preventing WW3 in Europe, and we passed with flying fuckin colors. Do not ever take that from us; to do so is incredibly insulting. You live in a Pax Americana, and we disproportionately pay for it. At least recognize it.
>Germany didn't take non-German lands from France in 1871.
Neither did Russia with Crimea then. That's the excuse, right?
I think the USA should annex Okinawa since we have quite a few Americans there.
>That's the excuse, right?
yes. A valid excuse.
>I think the USA should annex Okinawa since we have quite a few Americans there.
no, Okinawa isn't historically American, it was only taken after WW2
Prove me wrong then. France was blinded by bloodlust since 1871 and 1917 and all the losses in between, which is womanly and emotional. This is the same reaction the USA had in 2001 which lead to the invasion of Iraq. Yet, across the internet, we are (rightfully) criticized for our disproportionate and improper response to 9/11 yet France gets off scot-free when it comes to how hard it fucked up in WW1.
Just because an enemy drew blood on you doesn't mean you should destabilize the international system. Such actions are sophomoric.
you're right.
Jow Forums is too autistic for such posts tho, either they're autistically pro-German like on Jow Forums or autistically "Germany must perish" like on /his/

If it makes you feel better, I legitimately dislike Germany but I'm not a person who is going to deny history. History should be viewed with as stoic and impartial a lens as possible, with as much primary and secondary evidence as possible. My feelings and opinions don't matter
nothing
Tried to save Russia from bolsheviks. Sorry we failed Russiabros.
lost and got bolshevik'd, invaded, partitioned to such a degree we still haven't recovered
22nd century will be the Hungarian empire century
It's not that you're entirely wrong it's just that you are, as usual, only looking at it from an American perspective. You aren't looking at the European situation before unification, or after the death of Wilhelm I and subsequent loss of power and eventual death of Bismarck, or the threat a broken, angry, and still unified, post WWI Germany might represent, and worst if all you are still trying to pretend that the relative peace in the western world since WWII was entirely due to American foresight and magnanimity.
fought, died and ressurected
Had a short civil war instigated by *nglos and their fuckbuddies.
