Why Japan is so over-rated? I have nothing against japs, but despite their food is utter garbage so many people are obsessed with it; the language is sophisticated (yet way less than Chinese just in case someone wanted a hard lang) and unpleasant to listen; women are not anything special, there are tons of countries with more beautiful ones; Anime... Well I don't even get why do grownups watch it and in that case Disney production looks better. I don't claim for example Russia to be better in any of these things, just stating there's nothing special about Japan.

weebs are manchildren who are in dissonance with their culture and society and glorify Japan because of anime. Thats the biggest reason why they love Japan so much. It's not that Japan is not great, its that their social situation is in such chaos (despite their own coutry being better than Japan) that they orbit over a country based on a piece of media and generalize the whole country over a fraction of their culture. These people will put Japan on a pedestal without questioning anything despite how mediocre and contraditory it may be because it makes them feel justified as to why they "love" Japan.

I'm somewhat of a weeb for Japan's particular religious and aesthetic mix (mainly Taoist, Buddhist, Shinto) and all that it funnels into. But yeah, I don't really get it either. I think it's just a continuation of Orientalism, somewhat spurred and entertained by Japs themselves.
