Robinhood >commission free and no minimum to open robinhood.com
> How is it free? Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on cash/securities and fees from their Robinhood Gold service
> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet? Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.
> When is it coming to my country? The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.
Interactive Brokers >$1 commission per 100 shares. $10k minimum to open, $3k if 25 or under. Lowest margin interest. Free API access interactivebrokers.com
TD Ameritade >$6.95 commission per trade. No minimum to open. Fantastic data/charting through their free ThinkorSwim service tdameritrade.com
I made some buys based on supposed Motley recomendations. SHOP and TTD. Both have been my best performing the last several months, since I don't know how to read a chart or think for myself
you subscribe to Fool monthly stock advisor? if so, how's that been working out for you?
Grayson Cooper
this is it. can you feel it? the week we break out or crash
Julian Morales
TTD looks interesting. Dat revenue climb for the last few years...
Caleb Thompson
Green week imminent
Nathan Cooper
I didn't, I just googled what their super hyped-up pick was. Some blogger said, "Prolly TTD, it was SHOP last year" so I grabbed some, only 3 months ago. I'm new here.
Canadian Senate votes to legalize recreational weed sales on June 7. That is Thursday. That is THREE (3) trading days from now. After that it's going to moon hard, the prices will be stupid and no sense, and it will bubble again.
Just learned this: Eurofags planning the restrict CFD trading
Is this true eurofags? are you pulling a 2009?
Noah Butler
>As a result:.From July 2, 2018, a prohibition on the marketing, distribution or sale of binary options to retail investors is introduced..Effective August 1, 2018, a restriction on the marketing, distribution or sale of CFDs to retail investors is introduced. This restriction consists of: leverage limits on opening positions; a margin close out rule on a per account basis; a negative balance protection on a per account basis; preventing the use of incentives by a CFD provider; and a firm specific risk warning delivered in a standardized way
SHOP is fucking based. >t. long time holder I also like SQ and CVNA
Not 100% sure what's going on there. Looks like they're putting limits on how much risk retail investors can take on. It looks like the US already banned CFDs.
Finally my existence will have meaning again!
Joseph Gonzalez
Utility meme special: Southern Company Buy at 42 and under, just like KO!
US banned cfd after 2008 which I hated but I suppose its understandable, maybe this will help the euro markets
I have a high frequency algorithm I've been using in crypto that I think might stand a chance in stocks, the question is, how do I get a reliable feed of up to the moment prices and volume data? What company/software/cost? Cost being less of a consideration since if I'm right, it shouldn't matter. Pic related as that's my progress since September starting with $2500. Mostly mad during the bear market the last few months.
I don't know anything about CFDs. Why would it help the markets? Less volatility?
Kek, what the fuck? Are you bagholding those memes or are you new to the SDRL and HMNY game? Is CARV going to do the same thing? :^)
First, you'll lose a lot of money. Then, if you're smart, you'll only buy them for opportunities where you have a ton of conviction.
>KHC This. I think it may have bottomed
>implying you're not LARPing or would be able to hold a candle to Wall Street's HFTs If you're not LARPing, what's your strategy? Arbitrage? Probing and front-running big orders? Momentum trading?
This. I only use small positions for learning opportunities on memes, going big on the rare plays where I have a lot of conviction, but otherwise you're better off as the options writer cashing in on the theta burn.
Luke Rodriguez
I have never seen you doing TA before. This is interesting. I thought you didn't really believe in that stuff.
Isaac Morales
CFDs are the reason Europoors can go 100x leverage on any stock, index or commodity Now degenerate gamblers cant loss absolutely everything, more money for pumping!
but before 2008, people in America were also losing tons of money on margin accounts
Anthony Anderson
I typically only look at stocks on a monthly candle basis, so entry points arent too common
Caleb Campbell
A form of probing but based off a very specific pattern. I realize Wall Street is big boy shit compared to babby tier crypto but I think I've found my calling and I'm willing to give it a shot. Hell, if I get some kind of proof of concept to the point I think latency is the difference between me and millions, I'm more than willing to encode my shit on an FPGA and set up shop across the street from the exchange. I have the competence and if the money's right, nothing's off the table. I've just been so deep in crypto, adding new exchanges, tweaking, etc., I haven't had time to look into where to get a good stock feed, hence the asking here.
Jack Long
holy fuck i'm boring i'm sitting here refreshing this waiting for futures what am i doing with my life? how can i turn my obsessive nature into profit and not just meme losses?
Hudson Morris
you need to exit crypto... its a pyramid scheme
Liam Jackson
>futures open down with low volatility boring week ahead
I heard Morgan Stanley has a very solid platform for the big boy HFTs. Interactive Brokers might be a better starting point though. I'm very skeptical that you can out-do wall street's HFTs though. A lot of them write their shit in assembly and are already set up across the street from NYSE and use fiber optic cables / lasers. I heard Goldman Sachs reacts to market orders faster than it takes light to travel from the top to the bottom of the tallest building in the world. There's a lot of people out there making 6 figures with stock HFT, unlike crypto. It's at the point where it's not that hard to find free resources on it.
Mason Hall
yeah.. last year now thats it in downtrend, total loss is likely
Hunter Flores
The greatest BTC price discrepancies occurred when the price was in free fall. I actually took an interest in cross-exchange arbitrage for a while before realizing the profit was too slim and required too much work
Adam Johnson
Excellent, thanks for the info. I'll just throw a little money in it to see how it goes but, you never know. In the entire space of all possible winning strategies, I seriously doubt the human race has even scratched the surface. The numbers are just too big. There's room for smart people to carve out some profit. And if it doesn't work out, I'll only lose what I put in. The experience I can apply back to crypto will pay for that.
Xavier Hernandez
I did arbitrage all last year, it was super profitable, but then Coinbase banned me and ruined everything
Ryder Gomez
also: lending dogecoin on poloniex amazing free money too bad all that ended
James Mitchell
HELLO EVERYBODY LET'S HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY AND PLAN OUR MOVES FOR TOMORROW CAREFULLY AND LOGICALLY!
The weekend seems like a great time for all that due diligence that you're supposed to do before slapping that buy button. I use it for dreaming up ideas about my ML algorithm and hardly acting on them :'^(
>I did arbitrage all last year I love how I keep getting surprised by programmers in this thread. Just a couple months ago, it seemed like all the tripfags were drug addicts and alcoholics. >but then Coinbase banned me Kek. This sounds like a good story.
BTW, what do you think about my meming about ML for stock trading? I was getting hardly better results than a coin flip off 1 day out predictions, but I'm thinking a 1 month to 1 year timeline would get much better results.
John Russell
Also, did you try ban evasion or switching to kraken/gemini instead?
Kek. That's the dream.
Cooper Harris
CRON and CGC for the ones trading on main US markets. The rest of the Canadian tickers are on OTC.
Owen Harris
oh and also Scott's Miracle Grow. They're on the HMMJ ETF for reasons and often follow weed stock patterns.
Isaac Butler
Can someone who has Robinhood Crypto post the link they sent you in the email to activate it? My state supposedly has it available, but I either never got an email or I deleted it, I don't remember.
Benjamin Clark
Yeah coinbase/gdax banned me, I did everything I could but they have said for the past 6 months (we have a professional working on your issue!) I ended up Sending 80% of the coin to Kraken and cashing it out for a lifetime supply of Gin The rest is in 1Broker for leveraged Pep divs
about your algo... I dont think creating algos are nessisary, because on Trading view a combo of ANN + Bluesky + altering the code= over 90% accuracy easily for momentum trading ;)
oh nice I didnt realize smg dropped again Im buying tomorrow this is a good chemical company
Alexander Myers
Yep.
Elijah Garcia
>about your algo... I dont think creating algos are nessisary, because on Trading view a combo of ANN + Bluesky + altering the code= over 90% accuracy easily for momentum trading ;) By ANN, is that artificial neural network or some kind of indicator? And yeah momentum seems like the way to go. For the research papers I've read and examples I've seen online, the best results always seem to come from momentum strategies or at least including momentum as one of the features.
That's incredible accuracy though. I'll definitely check that out. Most shit I've seen doesn't get reproducible results if the accuracy is over 70%.
Thanks a ton!
Kayden Jackson
SMG is definitely a solid company. I've had a few smart friends work there, and I've always got the best returns from companies that catch my eye from respectable friends getting hired -- AMZN, SHOP, NOC
Gavin Butler
Ahaha Irrational exuberance bulls btfo
Told you the rally was fake and gay on friday Hold on to your butts, we are seeing red this week
Ann to immediately recognize mid term trends Blue sky is the real goldmine though, you need to adjust the timeframe for both of these or they wont work
I had something like 600 trades with an average of 1% per trade, its really good, but I stopped using because I attained buffet-vision
what do you all think about humana and wal mart should I sell before or after the merger if I have humana stock keep in mind I'm a literal retard
Kevin Cooper
>Told you the rally was fake and gay on friday Those chink tech companies scared the ever living shit out of me! I feel so justified for cashing a lot of my shit out on Friday. That rally just felt surreal. I literally made 2k last week, an over 7% gain
>Hold on to your butts, we are seeing red this week I'm seeing treasuries still up despite SPX being down. I think SPX only has further to fall until these treasuries go back above a 3% yield. There might be some serious salty tears following the fed shitpost on June 13th.
Long $MU as well. Semiconductors have been invulnerable to the trade war. I like $AMD and $NIVDIA but I'd be afraid to buy either until I see some healthy pullback. $MU is a good buy right now I loaded up on Friday when the price dipped.
I'm currently making a gap play on $AAOI and it's not too late to join me for an easy 5% this week. I'm making the same play on $DUK but you're probably too late to jump in, unless we have a bad oil day monday, then buy it up cheap and I'll buy more.
I'm getting out of oil in general though. I'm working on a boat in the pacific and my internet is shitty and unreliable. If you're at your computer all day though, I highly reccomend playing $DNR. The company has great financials and a super productive new well so the price should continue to have a bull trend in general. If it breaks ceiling while youre holding its gonna bull run pretty far. Just keep your eye on the news and on oil prices. Trade war vulnerable.
Also, gap plays on $GE. Overnight/intraday. it has a pretty defined range right now so just keep swinging
I made this same post last night but thread archived immediately after due to cyptokiddies so if you've seen this sorry to shill my stocks a second time.
Wait a sec, are you talking about the blue sky script by Ferva and the ANN one by sirolf?
Alexander Morris
>duk thats utility meme, Im going with SO
more than likely, they were the most popular on the site
Hunter Peterson
>I like $AMD and $NIVDIA but I'd be afraid to buy either until I see some healthy pullback. YES. I'm cashed the fuck out of tech and semiconductors until a good pullback. I love NVDA, but long-term, but Friday was fucking ridiculous. >I made this same post last night but thread archived immediately after due to cyptokiddies so if you've seen this sorry to shill my stocks a second time. No worries. These threads are fucking dead during weekends and AH. I think I post too much, and would love to see more content from others.
Blue sky is super sketchy. There's no source code and a lot of comments about repainting or some kind of lookahead trick. The ANN is just using price data, which I was getting shit results from on my own... but I'm bad with NNs and didn't spend a ton of time on it. This definitely could serve as a better base to start my own experiment from and share back if I can improve it with more feature engineering.
Blue sky at the minimum is pretty fucking sketchy, but I do really appreciate these resources. I'm definitely going to share back results if/when my ML experiments get anywhere better than a coin flip. Thanks again!
Nathaniel Stewart
Also, hear me out, but I'm a bit drunk and this makes sense in my head.
A whole bunch of tinder whores are gonna be turning 30 and hitting the wall over the next decade or two and find themselves single and unmarryable. When women become unmarketable, they turn to coping mechanisms like Wine, Dildos, Romance Novels, Cats, and Anti-depressants.
How bankable are roasties and is a portfolio centered around companies that cater to whore vices a smart idea?
I view this as the counter-balance to the GPU surge which is largely powered by incels.
>wont work because women will go extinct after waifubots get made
That seems like it would just fuel women's vices. Watching men walk around with Taylor Swift bots while they sit there uncorking yet another california white.
They aren't gonna die off and if they do you just invest in Tylenol and razor blades to corner that market anyways.
Christian Nelson
I don't like Jow Forums investing strategies. There's too many LARPer/shitpost threads on Jow Forums that are half way to being decent /smg/ macro investing content. i.e. >How do I short incel rage? >How do I short soi boi cucks? If you're into that shit, you may enjoy speculating on oil though. (USO & WTI) I'd also like to point out that you're bringing this up as a one or two decade HODL play. Lul.
Jose Sanders
Most obviously 4 hugs incoming ever seen And no ;P 241 was sell point, it never hit !
>tfw bought hmny for excitement >turns out to be fucking boring
god dammit do something already this shit is not volatile enough for a meme. or maybe i'm legitimately retarded and should have gambled on roulette so it was double or total loss in like 30 seconds
David Mitchell
>yeah they dont work until you edit them I'd never settle for just using the scripts that somebody gives me as is. Kek. I'm way, way too tremendous for that. What do you think I am? A script kiddy? lol >You cant edit them through trading view though This is why I abandoned quantopian lol I strongly prefer doing a local set-up and cutting out all the disgusting vendor lock-in. >copy the code into word, take profits immediately, long only Yup. I've found shorting is something that I should only do as a small position with put options instead of actual short sells as a means of stress reduction.
Thanks again for these new resources, senpai
Ryan Jenkins
>not dailey/monthly time frame what is that 1 hour? Not allowed!
I bought a straddle on them, and a lop-sided straddle on SDRL. I'm starting to think that I should just do short straddles on memes instead of long straddles.
Jack Reed
Hey guys why the CFD is banned in ""Freedomland""?
Michael Moore
What's wrong with gambling long? It seems pretty evident to me that there's gonna be a huge market for anything to dull the pain of roastiehood in about 10 years as the mass of single moms that tinder is cranking out find that they are unable to lock down a good man.
Like, going out to bars and stuff and looking around, that is totally gonna be a thing. It's a fucking epidemic man. I only wish Chaturbate and planned parenthood were publicly traded
Lincoln Bailey
>That beautiful line up of strong sells for the 10Y treasury
