Hello friendos, I want to learn a language, but I don't know which. I come from a hick family that never valued knowledge in any way, so I never bothered to learn anything other than English. I had French in school half a life ago, but I have forgotten everything except counting to 10 and saying "I hate school" because that's how edgy I was.
I want a language to learn for fun and travel (and to get a qt gf of course), I'll probably never get a good enough job where languages other than Norwegian and English are required anyway. Grammar shouldn't be too hard as I'm a brainlet when it comes to grammar, but I'm okay with a different alphabet as long as it's not super difficult.
are you a refugee? I thought schools in Norway required 4 or 5 languages

A period should be used instead of a question mark, since it's a demand and not a question. "Please do this." Other than that, it's clunky but acceptable. How hard is it to learn a language through exposure rather than traditional study? I'm too lazy to study a language but i could easily play video games or watch shows in my target language. I was thinking of maybe picking up something slav to make it easier. Would that ever work?

Not him, obviously, but it's nowhere near as difficult as you think. I took two semesters of Arabic and have no troubles reading Urdu. With some dedication, I doubt learning to read and write indecently would be awfully hard.
And Hindi's a joke of an alphabet, though I say that only in relation to ease of acquisition. Just like most Cyrillic scripts, Devanagari is very phonetic--what you see corresponds, most of the time, to a word's exact pronunciation. The only trick part, at least for beginners, may be certain word combinations, e.g., प+र becoming प्र or त+र becoming त्र, as in चित्रा.
It's not difficult, but some combinations can be hard to read if you haven't seen them before.

That's basically the input hypothesis. A good way to start is just to read through basic texts and just look up words. Then listening comes in. And speaking kicks in last. Stephen Krashen and Steve Kaufman have good vids on this
