what do you want to know about Brazil? if you just want a quick summary of how it is, then there might be YouTube videos about it, probably they won't get into details but will give you a taste of what Brazil is like. movies could be a good idea too, if you're into foreign cinema. City of God is quite good but will give you the idea of a reality that doesn't match some Brazilians, but you might learn a lot about us from watching it and it is a good movie (A dog's will is good too but not sure if it works for non-Brazilians). if even then you still want to learn about Brazil, then yes, learn Portuguese, it's not the best language but it's easy to catch up with
