lot of them migrated here during the Vietnam War, when we were part of the Soviet Bloc, as they were our "socialist brothers". commie countries had close ties, for example lots of Polish engineers worked on infrastructure in Iraq, the only tropical fruits you could get in Poland were from Cuba (and availible only once a year, on Christams). Vietnamese are one of the biggest minorities in Poland. I'm not complaining, at least in bigger cities around every corner there is a place with cheap and tasty asian food.
