It's coveted because people from abroad like to work here for the money and then go home with their spoils and live rich and happy lives in the nation where they have a home, identity, and culture. Being born here is the worst curse possible. Every country in the world has identity, culture, and history EXCEPT for our's, and so everyone born here is doomed to live a life as an outsider, unable to live a life with what matters.
