So you’re telling me Brazil has zero Nobels? But how is that possible? Argentina has 5 and Mexico has 3. Even Guatemala has one.

Nobel prizes are given to countries?
muhammad
When you win the Nobel Prize the dude says which country helped him succeed or to which country he belongs to. For example Vargas Llosa claims both Spain and Peru because he is from both nationalities (even tough he is full blooded peruvian)
In the Case of Peter Medawar. so called "Nobel of Brazil", he left Brazil very early in his life, was always a british citizen and never did any research or even studied in Brazil. All his research was done in Britain and he never felt like a Brazilian. So Medawar is not a nobel of Brazil but of Britain
ok Japan solved the controversy. no one is allowed to reply after this line ____________________
YIKES, you'd think the 1% mega rich brazilians would produce at least one good scientist in the last 50 years.

Actually. We, Santos Dumont, invented the firsts dirigibles and technically he putted a engine on a plane. The design of a plane was already known and were many, but Americas were autistic launching it from a catapult, but Dumont made all his research and vehicles in France, the technology stayed there and if his father hadn't sent him to France when he was a kid he probably never would had done even half of it. So Brazil had nothing to do with it, was just a discovery form a guy that happened to be Brazil... The advancement on aviation technology just had the nationality of the inventor of Brazilian.
The first flight of 14-bis was inSeptember 7, 1906

Between 1912 - 1916, Brazil was having a civil warish, called "Guerra do Contestado".
The Brazilian government had only 3 planes, used for reckoning missions, and one of the planes due to malfunctioning:

Brazil just had something you could call an "air force" in the WW2 era, where Murica invested a lot in Brazilian military and infra structure.

The "inventors" of planes being tough how to fly by Americans. (btw, Brazil had an dictatorship were the dictator was openly facist... Don't ask me, I don't understand it either.)
