Can't think of anything worse than that. Work is for many people the only opportunity to meet new people and do some socializing.

I had a marmalade office job for a while but I'll never go back to that life. The occasional office qt doesn't make it worth it. There are plenty of other opportunities to socialize out there.

Plus my job gives me the benefit of being able to travel anywhere and work while I'm doing it. I feel like I've been on vacation for a year.

What about fast food makes it terrible? I had a cashier job and that was soul-sucking, but surely if you dislike interacting with strangers for hours on end then working some fryers must be better, no?

My contract allows me to take 2 days of remote work at home in a week.
I hardly ever use it and only on special occasions, like on fridays when I need to get out early to catch a train (I live very close to a train station) or in the monday after a weekend of drinking where I'd rather not show up in the office in that "day after" state.

You haven't worked in a call centre in customer support then. It was my first job after uni.
Fuck me that was soulsucking. Your lunch scheduled to the second, your work time scheduled to the second, cigarette/toilet breaks scheduled to the second.
Had a bad day and needed to take a shit at work? Tough cookies friend, we're going to take that back from your bonus. And repeating exactly the same phrases 50+ times a day. Not to mention retarded working time because the CC operated 24/7. All I wanted to do after finishing work is go back to sleep.

Lasted only 5 months, went looking for a better job, got one in IT despite not having any experience (other than neckbearding with linux at home) and not having any formal education in this field.
My wage increased 2,5x (and that's without bonus), I have time to do shit like eat breakfast, eat dinner at work, I learn new stuff, meet great people who work there, all of my superiors are nice people that appreciate my work.
Since then I have never felt "tired" after finishing work.
