>find something fun to do in my free time
>a week passes without reading anything or even watching anime
I guess it's about time to get back into it

But who was fun

It's not about doing it all the time, just reducing the gaps between the times when you do Japanese stuff.

You can do it.

Your thoughts about squeaky high-tone voice you hear in anime?
I prefer low tone voice tho.

>戸棚の一角には、羊皮紙だかパピルスだか、明らかに紙ではない巻物を並べた一角もある。
>repetitive 一角
>"In the corner of the cupboard, THERE IS A CONER where several scrolls seem like made of parchment or papyrus, obviously not of paper, are displayed"
Actually redundant. Shold have been simply written as
> 戸棚には、羊皮紙だかパピルスだか、明らかに紙ではない巻物を並べた一角もある。
Could I ask in what coner of the world you extracted this sick scribble?

>sick scribble

I like them for the most part. My favorites are usually on the lower end though, Miyuki Sawashiro for example.

-の

Polite language
"woman's words") was a cant that was originally used by Japanese court ladies during the Muromachi era, and subsequently spread and came to be thought of as a general women's language.
Many nyōbō kotoba words were formed by adding the prefix o-, which indicates politeness, or by dropping part of a word and adding -moji, meaning "character, letter".、en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyōbō_kotoba
Read following:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_honorifics
All those words for my Dick

or

Besides, in a corner of the closet, some scrolls of unknown material which is not paper clearly, which may be parchment or papyrus, are displayed.

Thanks, I was kinda racking my brains over it since I was still unsure on the other posters' interpretations. I've never seen this kind of redundancy before so this is useful to know.

I might as well ask another separate question since I'm posting:
Is there a strong negative nuance with using 黙って聞いてれば and 言わせておけば? Thinking of them literally as "If I stay quiet and listen" and "If I let you talk" doesn't seem to fit with what usually comes after (いい気になりやがって).

This is a good question

Attached: Screenshot_20181126-102027__01__01.jpg (864x304, 48K)

>a strong negative nuance
When these phrases are put at the beginning of a sentence, they have a strong negative nuance, as you know, but they often have the latter when they are put in the sentence.
e.g.
negative nuance
not negative nuance
not negative nuance
negative nuance

negative nuance
not negative nuance

The first anime I watched raw was けいおん! but I watched a good amount of stuff with JP subtitles before moving on to raw. One anime I watched with Japanese subs was 博打黙示録カイジ, which was very slow-going, but I got so many dramatic 四字熟語 from it. I also watched a couple dorama on Netflix with Japanese subtitles(Samurai Gourmet and Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories), and listened to the LearnJapanesePod, which is great for beginners that have no foundation for listening ability. They'll have a passage of Japanese, and then they'll go through and break it down afterwards. Depending on the difficulty level of the podcast you listen to (they have a lot of variety), the amount of detail they go into when they break down the passage will vary, and so will the difficulty of the passage.
The upper limit of what anime I can understand without JP Subtitles is 涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱 -- Kyon talks crazy fast and Yuki drops 10-kanji-long science-fiction compound words like there's no tomrrow(pic related).
I'm also capable now of listening to and enjoying various podcasts aimed at natives. My all-time favorite, and the one I've listened to the most of, is ひいきびいき. I'm really bummed that they stopped making new episodes this summer. I found another ongoing one that I rather enjoy yesterday called 新刊ラジオ, it's a podcast about new books and it features a synopsis of a book and an interview with the author about the main concepts of their book. It's supposed to let you お耳で立ち読み -- browse a book store with your ears.
Lastly I've watched a bunch of Game Center CX, a variety show featuring 有野晋哉, who speaks in 関西弁. I watched so much of it at one point about a year ago that I temporarily became unable to speak Japanese without a Kansai accent.
> Then I tried toradora, grabbed the kanji subs and retimed them, but for the life of me I cannot keep up without turning them on all the time to clear up whatever the fuck they just said
You're on the right track. Keep doing that and you'll improve.

Your ears

Just wanted to say that your posts are the most helpful and insightful for me as a learner in the past 3 months I've lurked this thread so far. Thanks a lot for your contributions.

Apart from one or two sites I know that actually offer Japanese subtitles on some select shows, is there a streaming service that even offers mostly raw shows and possibly japanese subtitles ones?

I doubt there is much demand for it, but I guess there might be something still.

>修理だのなんだのの話になったってわけ
This part confuses me greatly. I think I know approximately what it means based on the context but I don't know why.

animelon.com

when someone lists shit with だの you can assume that this person is annoyed

That one I already knew, the library is understandably limited.

I'd be happy about a site with less functionality but more content though.

Is there any way to send cards that are being re-learned back to the deck as un-learned or unseen?
I stopped using anki for over a year, I ran through all my reviews and now I have 500 cards that I've essentially completely forgotten in my "re-learning" queue, taking forever to slog through and essentially re-learn from scratch.

>I stopped using anki for over a year

Attached: kaguyaluna11.png (1294x723, 845K)

I know I'm a faggot
For all the words I did retain I have a ton of super long-interval mature cards now at least

>a ton of super long-interval mature cards

Attached: kaguyaluna11.png (1294x723, 845K)

FUCKIGN POLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ANSWER MY QUESTION HOW DO I MAKE THESE RE-LEARN CARDS GO BACK????

DON'T

If you stop Anki once you're locked out of learning Japanese forever I'm afraid.

Attached: 1541958492381.png (1920x1080, 2.98M)

What the fuck is re-learn you twat, reviews?
If you actually gave a fuck you would look shit up and fix it by yourself, instead you don't even know what terminology to use, and you gave up for a fucking year. Pathetic.

Attached: kaguyaluna11b.jpg (10000x10000, 3.89M)

re-learn is the term used in the app not sure if it is in the desktop version but it's a thing
I did some cursory googling and found nothing if this thread isn't for questions is it just for you to post meme screenshots in?
f*ck

I'm sure you'll fix it one day

Attached: kaguyaluna12.png (1293x722, 827K)

I assume he has 500 cards in his reviews he can't even remember so he can't go through them in a day and retain even a fraction of them, so they keep coming back every day if he even gets through all of them in the first place.

Personally I'd have no idea how to deal with this either beyond toughen the fuck up or burn that deck to the ground.

You could change your relearn steps. Default is 10, but I swapped it to 1 10 ages back.

I'll do that too, that should help thanks.
My solution was to filter the deck by how "overdue" the card is, so all of my grossly overdue cards are essentially suspended in that deck and as I go through them they will be added back to my main deck.

netflix

Thanks with quick glance I seem to like it more than Animelon

That's actually not a bad one I'm bewildered why they don't come with Japanese subtitles though.

only ones i checked were terrace house(what a shit show) and tonari no kaibutsukun, both had jp subs
do most other shows dont have subs?

There's weird shit going on with subs on netflix. For example, a vast difference between subs and dub.

Do you ever wish you had bought the Oasis instead? I'm torn between the two.

No idea. I'm fairly happy with my Kindle. I just purchased the cheapest option that had a backlight since I like to read before I go to bed.
Personally the Oasis just isn't worth the price unless you REALLY like the design for some reason.

I think that would be really cool. I assume no native Japanese IPs post here.
