Used to be the Captaincy General of CA and was the richest part because it had the most natives as labour force. Joined Mexico because capitalinos wanted to keep privilages, then it became the CA republic and began to balkanize almost instantly because capitalinos wanted more privileges than the provinces.
Is now the most populated CA state, has 50% native population, and the biggest city in CA but is also very dangerous. The right wing won the civil war so it is a great place to do business but a bad place to live. Has potential to be Ecuador tier, but social issues make any form of progress impossible.
A beautiful country.

>Joined Mexico
The same as any other of what are today Mexican states, you were still a part of New Spain even if allowed some autonomy and you remained a part of Mexico during the first empire.

Kek, I just love it that you guys make it seem as if you became independent from Spain on your own while we were doing the actual fighting.

No after the whole spanish war thing, our capitalinos literally still wanted a king. Our independence was a farce to keep power to the rich criollos and peninsulares. So we joined your empire hoping Fernando 7th would return.

Evangelical indios who are gay for Israel. CIA playground and have a massive inferiority complex toward us, not even baiting, you know is true.

One of several Mexican rebellious southern states

Like I said technically ALL the provinces chose to join, in practice power remained where it had been for then 300 years, Mexico City

Mexico of Mexico

Kind of a unique case among latin american countries in that it is markedly plagued by a lack of national identity and solidarity between people
Don’t misinterpret this as a leftist opinion, they hate leftism and that is based, but they don’t have a sense of cohesion that bands them together, and that’s partly why they fail as a nation

Meh, like much of Central America they're basically a regional variation of our culture except they amputated themselves from the national identity and high culture part to do their own thing which, a few exceptional cases like Asturias aside, they mostly failed to do as they ended up becoming literal banana republics.

based

based AMLO will do a referendum to annex central america again!

I find it hard to agree
Guatemalan culture is definitely distinct from mexican culture due to being descended from a regional power, the maya
Other centraca countries i agree are just mexico lite

You know we also have a huge Maya region right?

it's a shithole
just like literally every other latin american country.

Most if not all central american countries lack culture. Guatemala included. Nicaragua may be the one exception. If you consider murder to be a form of culture, then you can also include Honduras.

wtf are you talking about? they literally consume all of our culture, they even celebrate our day of the dead, and fyi, the mayan culture is rooted in mexico.

their biggest cultural export is Ricardo Arjona, which in his most famous song plays the role of a mexican taxi driver
>youtube.com/watch?v=-apU2sviHCM

so guatemala is to mexico as canada is to usa

>the maya
Mayans are just another flavor of Mesoamericans, nevermind most of their historic territory is in Mexico and that they are the second largest indigenous heritage in Mexico after Aztecan Nahuas.

Guatemalans use tortillas and chili/tomato based sauces in their cuisine, their ancestral material culture is much the same as ours (petates, molcajetes, etc) and they were a part of New Spain during the colonial era, even if somewhat autonomous given the isolation of Central American jungles. They have more in common with Mexican Yucatecs than they do Central American Panamanians.

In a way they're to us as Belgium is to France, now I will grant you they're distinctly non Mexicans in many significant ways but it's not because of their being Mayan.

I agree with what you said in this post

Mayan yucatan and chiapas belong to guatemala

The other way around, Petén belongs to Yucatán, their Mayan dialect can only be understood in Yucatán, not the rest of Guatemala, and Petén was managed through Yucatán for much of the colony. So not only where the Guatemala and Yucatán Capitancy Generals different, separate things during the colony, but you do understand that even in the times of the Mayans, they weren't a completely unified single kingdom, right? Much the same way ancient "Greeks" had wars with each other, the same thing happened with the Mayans, and the ones in Yucatán were not the same as the ones in Guatemala. I hate this fucking "hurr durr Yucatán belongs to Guatemala" meme that is not grounded in reality a single bit.

A case can be made for Chiapas, however, since Chiapas was actually a part of Guatemala (unlike fucking Yucatán, which again, it never was, I feel like I need to hammer this point over and over again). Then again, a similar case can be made on Guatemala belonging to Mexico.
