Hofstede's idea of what masculinity is is pretty weird. It's not being a macho like you'd like to think, it's about the relevance of religion, the amount of women in high-authority positions, etc.
Japanese people for example have a way higher "masculinity" score (at 95) than Poles (at 64), and I doubt anyone actually thinks Japanese men are more manly than Polish men.
