>“We can feel proud of what our country achieved in medical science at one point of time,” the prime minister told a gathering of doctors and other professionals at a hospital in Mumbai on Saturday. “We all read about Karna in the Mahabharata. If we think a little more, we realise that the Mahabharata says Karna was not born from his mother’s womb. This means that genetic science was present at that time. That is why Karna could be born outside his mother’s womb.”
>Modi went on: “We worship Lord Ganesha. There must have been some plastic surgeon at that time who got an elephant’s head on the body of a human being and began the practice of plastic surgery.”
>This is not the first time that Modi has publicly articulated such ideas. But he did so earlier as chief minister of Gujarat state, and not as prime minister. He also wrote the foreword to a book for school students in Gujarat which maintains, among other things, that the Hindu God Rama flew the first aeroplane and that stem cell technology was known in ancient India.

I actually really like India. I've been there ten times, am taking Hindi classes and pursuing a doctorate with a research focus on South Asia.
Definitely not a place for people who can't stand pollution and poo, but I think India has enough diversity (in every sense of the word) to compensate for its shortcomings.
Took pic related the last time I was in India, which was over the summer. Going back again for the eleventh time in less than two weeks.
Actually this
whats are your favorite states?
>Definitely not a place for people who can't stand pollution and poo,
i am sure i can stand all of that, after all i also live in a shithole
West Bengal, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. I've only been to Chattisgarh once, but it had some of the most genuinely friendly people I've come across in India. Beautiful landscapes, too, all of which is relatively untouched by tourism (due to a large portion of the state being under the influence of Maoist militants).
Pic related is Tirathgarh Falls in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district. Bastar, coincidentally, is a fairly infamous place in India--it abuts Dandakaranya, which is the epicenter of the country's Maoist movement.
>tfw spent a couple months """"""living"""""" in Mexico City last year
>tfw somebody gets show half to death right outside my apartment on the third or fourth day
>tfw still love Mexico
Maybe I just have a thing for so-called "shithole countries," but I'd be happy if I only got to travel to India, Mexico and Colombia.
well about the poo thing,
i think the government is trying to fix that problem by cleaning the streets, and installing toilets at every corner and all that stuff
How much poo did you see? Genuine question. Any people shitting on the streets or is that just an overused meme now?
I lived there for 3 years and never saw someone take a shit on the streets. Only complaints were the pollution - air (although that is mostly from slash and burn; not from industrialization) and litter (no dustbins anywhere unless you go to a upper middle class area).
The traffic too, it was fucking annoying. Sometimes, it's so empty but otherwise it's like you're stuck in hell. People love honking their damn horns.
>I lived there for 3 years
what were you doing there
job,studying?
noice did you go to south india ?
In Mexico or India?
It's genuinely an overused meme. The only times I've seen people poo-pooping outside are along railway tracks in rural areas and densely-populated slums. The only time I saw someone publicly shitting in an unexpected place was along a beach in Visakhapatnam.
I've been to a handful of slums in North India, visiting friends of friends, and none of them were really that bad.
Just Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. I've passed through parts of Karnataka, too.
I've already been to India ten times, so I'm not exactly in a rush to see everywhere at once. I definitely do want to see more of the south, though.
India, i really believe that Jow Forums might be the reason why India decided to build toilets everywhere
independent.co.uk
go to Kerala dude its worth it, the people are really friendly too
I'm Indian, lol
First time living in India for more than a few months.
I did remember seeing a poor kid shit in a gutter once but that was in 2007-ish. 11 years ago
The Indus Valley Civilization was established by CHG/Zagros (Iran Neolithic) migrants and not by native poo abos though.
rock me mama like a wagon wheel
>I'm Indian,
wait what
why would an indian live in this country, i am genuinly curious
then why cant north Indians shit in a toilet live the people of indus valley did? we still shit in a hole like our ancestors
Yeah, I remember hearing about that. I've spent lots of time in Delhi. At least in the more central parts of the city, there are plenty of public toilets. They're surprisingly well-kept, too, although the latrines in Indraprashta are another story.
Like I said, I definitely want to. I always have bad luck when it comes to South India--either I'm in the country for summer and don't want to head down south, or I'm there for months on end and don't have money by the time winter rolls around.
Hopefully I'll be able to next winter, since I'll be able to take a long-ish break from school.
I went to Ecuador last year and was utterly perplexed by how many Punjabis I saw in Quito.
yea fair enough it can get hot in the south but it rains like fucking scary in Kerala too so beware of that, just had the biggest flood this year in like hundreds of years
how expensive is it to travel to India, specially if i you go to touristic places and want to avoid the slums
I haven't been to LatAm so this is my chance. I'm here for a a year or two, gonna study Spanish at UNAM, and visit Chichen Itza, Machu Pichu, Andes, Easter Islands and well...yeah, any other recs? Hopefully, my application for my masters get accepted as well so I can enjoy my stay here without any worries.
Eh, you can make India cost as much or as little as you'd like. Outside of Mumbai, you can be reasonably comfortable on $30-$40 per day. If you're alright with hostels or hotels without air conditioning or any special amenities, $20-$30 covers lodging, public transportation, food and a few drinks.
A lot of backpackers like to LARP as lower class Indians and manage fine on $15-$25 per day.
Go to Colombia, senpai. I went there for a month in 2015 and just got back from another five-day trip to Bogota. Beautiful fucking country with very, very nice people.
Only downside is the food.
just hope you do not get assaulted or get shot by a drug cartel guy, thats my recomendation
pretty based, the problem is that i am not working yet, and i suck at university
Well, all Indians seem to have a streetshitting problem to a degree. The only reason why Kerala isn't as shitty is unironically because of commie rule forcing people to abandon their inherently shitty nature. Also, even North Indians barely have any Aryan and CHG DNA. Now a days CHG DNA peaks in Georgia (along with parts of Iran and Circassian regions) while the Yamnaya DNA peaks in Scandinavian countries and both of those places are much better than anything Indian abos have to offer.
Now I am not saying that IVC had no abo blood, certainly the CHG migrants would have subjected the natives to some form of a social hierarchy.
TBQH a month in India will probably cost less than the cost of a round-trip fare from Mexico City.
>ok rape u next week
for people living outside the gta, Brampton has a large concentration of poos
Haha, not gonna lie, the amount of ambulances I hear everyday worry me.
Alright, I'll add that in. I forgot about Bolivia too, can't miss those salt flats. I heard the best time to go to to those salt flats is around Feb/March. I wonder how clear the skies can get.
Make sure to travel around Mexico, too. Oaxaca and Chiapas have some great nature and great food.
well you live in mexico city, thats expected
>tfw would rather live in India or Mexico than the U.S.
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Also, best fucking burger I've had in my life was in Oaxaca.
what would make those countries better than yours?
I'm an Indian American whose never been to India
I've been thinking of going there sometime soon with my brother, just to kinda see where my parents grew up
What parts of India would you recommend seeing?
I think indians are getting too much shit compared to other ethnicities. Overall pretty peaceful people.
But I would lie if I say that I don't see some similarities between their gypsy cousins (absolutely no regard for public cleanliness). No matter how poor, you can't live in garbage.
I'm sure that not 1 billion Indians shit in the street or throw their garbage everywhere.
The country is very diverse and some ethnicities must be worse than others?
Well, the gyppos came from a group of people with a lot of native abo admixture, and most Indians derive a majority of their ancestry from the same native abos, so that should clear things up a bit.
