Nah, its a 155mm gun that shoots a LRLAP round. The gun aboard was designed with use of these rounds, the issues comes was shortly after the ship was commissioned, the procurement for the rounds stopped, so there wasn't any ammunition to use.
The US navy's decision is to design new rounds for the gun, or to change the gun, possibly to a railgun or laser based system.

wow what a shocker, the ship itself is functioning fine and despite there being problems with it's armament you'd have to be an idiot to think those won't be fixed with time. The experience used to improve the ship will also be retained which will be invaluable as the Navy seeks to build more stealth ships

What is it with Business Insider and using ambiguous phrasing to create military click bait? Right now the LRLAP ammo iss too expensive and is not performing out to it's required range. Since the Zumwaults have their odd power integration, the question is now to research cheaper ammunition, or put lasers or just EW modules instead of the 155mm guns.
Maybe Jow Forums would know if the guns were worth it in an age of hypersonic missiles.
