German Empire in 1914 was the biggest superpower in the world, it needed half of the known world to tear us down and we would have reked anyone in 1on1

in 1940, dunno. If we would have secured the western front, we would have killed russia in 1942 but not bejond that point except if they didn't reciev any land lease. Same with the US, until 1942 we could beat them but not after they fully mobilized and used nearly 33% of there economy for war economy (more then germany btw)

Germany in 1914 in 1v1 would've wrecked anything in Europe like Russia or France, but our navy wasn't strong enough to defeat Britain
neither could Britain however touch us on the mainland without continental allies

If you class the Soviet Union as a superpower then all the countries in that list can be classified as such as well.

that said, was the Soviet Union really a superpower? They were a huge great power for sure, but their navy was never even remotely comparable to the US navy, so did they really have the ability to project power on a global scale
in that regard I'd say the British Empire was even ahead

They had the largest military in the world, the largest nuclear arsenal in the world and more or less directly controlled about half the land area of the world.
The definitions of words are, by definition, arbitrary. The term "superpower" was coined to describe the US and USSR. The ability to single handedly and immediately wipe out the majority of the world's population could be considered a criterion, maybe? No empire before them had quite as much muscle to throw around. I think the key here is that for a while, they seemed to be the only two top dogs on the whole planet whereas before it had always been a whole bunch of empires of various sizes.
