i never said they couldn't, but they almost always prefer to use cyrillic. they can read it and write it though, because they teach the traditional scripts in schools if i'm not wrong

i have only been to inner mongolia but that was quite a while ago
but if you are asking about mongolia then apparently it is best to just spend as little time as possible in the capital (not exactly unsafe but not safe as well, and not much to see) and go visit the countryside (especially the deer herders, which i personally hope to see if i ever go to mongolia)

My College mate, who had been in Volunteer in Mongolia, said the same thing. He said that Mongolians are usually very friendly and kind to Koreans and Japanese, but they dislike China and Chinese. Perhaps there is a historical cause.
