Everyone here is unemployed or is stuck in a shite job getting addicted to opioids or getting diabetes. The cops are way underfunded and are basically useless (they panic and shoot on sight).
The people who have money inherited it or managed to scheme poor uneducated people out of their money. The healthcare here also literally bankrupts you if you get ill or injured. And the doctors all try to cheat you out of money or put you on prescriptions you don't need (particularly opioids and benzodiazepines.)
Parts of America are pretty nice, but where I'm from is terrible. Drug addiction and alcoholism are rampant. If you are caught drinking under the age of 21, you are charged with a crime and could face jail. If you are caught with drugs, you almost surely will face prison time.
Also: absolutely no public transportation except for two buses serving the downtown area. No trams, no subways, no metro, no anything else. Maybe incredibly overpriced Taxis or Uber.
Hate to rant, but I've been talking with friends from the Balkans who live here and It's genuinely surprising how similar parts of the US are to parts of the Balkans.
