What do people in Spain eat? I have never seen a "Spanish" restaurant. Do those exist in yurop?

Tacos
Me neither. Probably due to lack of immigrants from Spain
Depends on the region. European cuisine is very regional and that's even more true for the Mediterranean countries.
wtf is that?
depends where you live in it's different
This. Paella, bocatas, tacos, mejillones, burritos, the classical Spanish dishes.
Don't forget tequila!
This,and empanadas,anticuchos.
tacos
mongólicos todos
Seafood inside of rice. Coastal people are really disgusting.
We actually have great gastronomy, but we suck at selling ourselves to the world.
Fried eggs with potatoes.
This. Coffee with tequila is a thing there, they call it carajillo I think.
>anticuchos
Looked that up looks good desu.
We don't know what tacos, burritos or nachos are.
Basques have some of the world's best restaurants, it just can't be imitated.
It's better this way. I don't want to lose my denomination of origin food because a couple million Chinese businessmen have bought it.
they also eat "Putin's" which is basically french fries drowned in sauce
There exist but they are shit, it is usually shit paella and such.
In Spain we eat Menu del Dia (daily menu) which has typical spanish food usually.
The restaurant prepares a list of meals for each day, like 3-4 starting dishes (salads, soups...) 3-4 second dishes (meat, fish) and a variety of desserts.
You choose one of each at the start except for desserts which you get to choose after you finish eating the main dishes.
It includes bread and coffee but not the drinks.
It is typical in all of Spain to get vino de la casa (wine of the restaurant) which is usually shit tier wine that you can drink alone (it sucks don't do this) or traditionally mix it with a soda called La Casera.
The whole menu costs usually around 10 euros, the shit wine around 5.
You can also get good wine, it is usually best to get wines of the region you are staying in.
That summarizes it.
>Finally try penella
>It's shit
Sounds a lot like Portugal.
>What do people in Spain eat?
We usually go out to drink beer and, in most of Spain, we get free random stuff to eat with that, that's called tapas
There's a Spanish restaurant in my town but I think they mainly do tapas and also sell a lot of non-Spanish food for good prices to students (it's in the same street as the university) or do 'Spanish inspired' sandwiches for lunch (a lot of chorizo, peppers and olives)
I'd say most people have at least heard of paella, chorizo and tapas. The problem with Spanish cuisine - and Spanish culture in general - is that a lot of people don't know where it ends and where Latin American cuisine begins. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a large percentage of people genuinely thought that tacos and ceviche were from Spain. I know I did.
Same thing except Portuguese always have codfish.
>What do people in Spain eat? I have never seen a "Spanish" restaurant.
Everything the spanish eat we improved
>I'd say most people have at least heard of paella, chorizo and tapas.
Yeah but that's pretty much it. Then maybe add some more pork sausages and general Lomo Iberico and I can't think of more Spanish stuff.
Mixed grill for dinner, English breakfast for breakfast.

Bacalao a la Vizcaina
I'm sure I know a lot more, but I can't remember others atm desu
It's something
Lol. This perfectly illustrates my point. I genuinely thought that churros were Mexican.
>Bacalao a la Vizcaina
Isn't that Portuguese dish? I remember everything was Bacalao in Portugal.
Spanish food travels really poorly because what matters most is the quality of the ingredients, as opposed to say the French where the quality of the cooking itself is the most important.
I'm oversimplifying of course but you know what I mean
Vizcaína and Pilpil are from Basque country, a brass is Portuguese
They are obviously a big thing here, but didn't they originate in here. Same as callos, we call it "menudo/pancita" instead. Tho, in the latter, the preparation is different, churros are basically the same everywhere.
I mean, they are in the same region, the important thing is that the preparation is different I imagine.
>says the islandnigger
>didn't they
*they didn't
wtf guys you come here like fucking hordes, how cannot you even know that
imagine believing for a second that roasted guinea pig is better than roasted pig
there used to be a Spanish restaurant in my town many years ago and I went there twice, out of which I only remember ordering some sort of shark soup both times and loving it.
>eats pigeons, lizards and guinea pigs
Not really
Tacos, burritos and tex-mex nachos. Also ceviche, pisco and asado criollo.
tapas and paella
>bacalao a la VIZCAÍNA
>Portuguese
Geess dutchie, that's almost mutt tier post.
Oh yeah, "Fabada", it was bugging me that I couldn't remember it.
I've personally never been to Spain. The only time I've ever had churros were at Mexican restaurants here in England. Also, they're almost exclusively referenced as Mexican food, in the American movies and TV shows I grew up watching. It's not exactly a surprise as to why I'd think they were Mexican in origin.
>En el norte los dueños de los bares son mas judios

There's like a gazillion of spanish restaurants in london. They advertise Tapas as if it was a top notch delicatessen, when in fact is just a toast with ham and olives on top

The difference is in Spain it's cheap bar food and here it is overpriced shit
>mfw after checking out their menu
theres plenty of mediterranean restaurants in UK and Ireland but the real deal is here in spain
some of the best plates are just old gradnma recipes
same thing happens in japan from the few "spanish food" restaurants i saw there. overpriced as fuck and pretty far from the real deal.
do foreigners realize tapas are just free things you could get with your drink out of random kindness from the bartender?
Lots and lots of stews all over the country. Fish all over the coastline, More Beef at the north than south, more pork at the south than north, lamb and rabbit at the inland. Some typical spanish sauces: Escabeche, Adobo, Chilindron, Pil-Pil, Pepitoria, Castellana and salsa española.

I'm a Portuguese in business in Spain.
Spanish food (at least here in Barcelona) it basically Portuguese food with less rice and more tomato and paprika. It's pretty good, but I still haven't found a restaurant as good as the Italian one right next to the hotel which is fucking great.
I thought I wouldn't like the tapas concept, but it's actually a pretty good way of tasting multiple things in a single meal.
I did see some Frogs creaming with delight all over some clearly terrible Presunto, as if it was any good. You guys are alright, keeping the good stuff away from the tourists, but I can't help but feel that that's why the Italian restaurant has you beat, and you've just been serving me touristy crap as well. Paella was just regular seafood rice with some extra tomato. Eh. I assume you guys' grandmas can do better.
Barcelona is a tourist city, what did you expect, its all tourists in flilp-flops
PORTVGVESE semen
I know, but I didn't pick the place, man. But I actually expected worse, desu. It's a pretty place, all things considered. But it feels very empty, for some reason.

I love Spain but the whole 'tapas is the best thing ever' meme, particularly perpetuated by basic white girls is a joke.
The only time its good is when you get it for free, but lol if you think im paying for it.

tapas are just a small snack, i feel like people come with super high expectations about them, tapas literally means just "snack" or "apetizer"
