While you have zero reason to do that, I can tell you the vocabulary would be Grug-tier easy for a Frenchman to learn, apart from some Slavic common words and the many fancy words which are also Slavic. The grammar, however, is nasty.

Basically always, except for the most basic words. Some will sound inappropriate for casual speech, others will do just fine.

This is basically a good example for how you should never talk like, also remember never to talk to people who sound like that. In People-German that'd be:

Iro is short for Irokese, which is of course what you call the cringy punker haircut. Siff (aswell as the adjective versifft) usually mean filth and filthy respectively. Don't know if that's taught anywhere.

When, how and why does the verb "знaть" decline into "знaeтe"?

Bls check this exercise from my Croatian textbook to make sentences with some given words(i put what i thought i was typing between brackets just in case it's unintelligible):

Perilica - Moram kupiti novu perilicu zato što(jer?) moja stara perilica ne radi.
( i have to buz a new washing washing machine because my old one doesn't work)

Sitnica - ne moraš brinuti se tako o sitnicama
(you shouldn't worry so much about details)

Provoditi - Provodio je njegova para i sada on nema ništa
(he spent his money and now he has nothing)

Zapaliti - Ona je zapalila i pušila cigaretu
(she lit and smoked a cigarette)

Kašljati - Ona kašlja puno, mislim da ona je bolesna
(she coughs a lot, i think she's sick)

trajati - Ovaj film traja za dugo
(this film is too long)

Taknuti - reći mi gdje ovaj muškarac je taknao tebi
(tell me where the man touched you) (is there a difference between taknuti and dirati btw?)

sometimes I feel so behind with this language, especially when trying to read something more proper like some fancy paper or bits from proper books
there really is no other way than going right at it and translating each and every word you come across and trying to somehow remember them

Sure, but my perspective is that everyone should know at least two languages: native and the lingua franca, which for most of the modern world is english

what I like about Dutch: I think it's nice how the language mimics the people and has lots of ways to say stuff very straight-forward, to the point, horribly efficient and short; spoken by the right people it can unironically sound beautiful, yes, including those awful sounds
what I dislike about Dutch: I think the language mimics the people a bit too much and in real life there is less nuance, poetry, romance, soul, sarcasm, cheekyness, play on words, than I would like in a lang

ironically enough, it's the easiest language to talk about nothing in (well, from the 3 that I know obviously)
at the end of the day though, it's more about the people who speak it than the language itself; you can't separate one from the other

wir haben hoechstens 2-3 jahren fremdsprache kurse, aber das reicht nicht und manche amerikanische schulen anbieten keine fremdsprahe kurse, das ist nichts im vergleich zu Europe wo Fremdsprache kurse sind so wichtig dass man durchfallen kann wenn er nicht einer von diesen kursen besteht hier die lehrer gibt man eine gute note wenn er einfach zur klasse kommt

Für Klausuren und Prüfungen zu lernen ist nicht äquivalent mit lernen, um zu verstehen. Da können die Kurse noch so wichtig sein, vergessen tun die meisten sowieso alles wieder, nachdem sie die Schule verlassen haben.

sure you can judge a language from a distance, by how you experience learning it and so on, but eventually you will find traits of the language in the people that speak it and that shape the lang
so your impressions of the lang are likely to be reflected by its (native) speakers too, and the other way around

Kommt aufs Land an, in Deutschland, Spanien, Frankreich und Italien zum Beispiel ist das eher weniger der Fall, weil sich hier keiner englische Filme antut. Ich selber benutze im echten Leben sogut wie gar kein Englisch, sogut wie nie. Das spielt sich bei mir (wie bei den meisten, die es interessiert) alles im Internet ab.
Das variiert natürlich von Person zu Person, das stimmt schon, und mit Interesse kann man aus den 8 Jahren schon was machen. Aber 2-3 mal eine Stunde Englisch die Woche ohne großartiges Interesse bringt den Meisten keine Sprache bei. Ich habe ja die Schule hinter mir und was man da in der 12. Klasse von einigen hört in Englisch ist echt grausam.

A latin language should be relatively easy for you. You already speak English so if for example you stuck with French you would be able to travel throughout much of Western Europe.

Does anyone here have any experience learning Cantonese? I checked the wiki and I could only find help for Mandarin. My best friend's family is from Hong Kong and his parents and older siblings speak hardly any English. His mom is honestly the nicest person I've ever met despite never being able to communicate face to face besides a simple hello. I don't know if it's Asian hospitality but she tries extra hard to make me feel welcomed. His siblings are very pleasant as well, and even though they speak English they still prefer to speak Cantonese at home (considering their parents don't speak English at all).

I'm not sure how far I want to go with this, but I would like to try and understand them and their language a little better. They tried teaching me some words and even though I likely butchered it and sounded like the English equivalent of engrish, the look they gave me still resonates with me. They seemed so happy that I tried to understand more about them. I want to capture that feeling again.

Also I know this post is really autistic especially for a basket weaving board, but as a monolingual English peasant I have 0 experience in another language except for the mandatory 2 years of Spanish I took in HS. Any tips/help would be appreciated. Even if you feel like you don't have good advice but still read all the way through, I still appreciate it.

Checked out two books from my university library. Reading an older one right now from the 60s by A. L. Hayward and he does a pretty good job so far. Also using a bit of duo lingo but not as much as the book. Using both is a nice mix.

Haha this is true. Honestly, I have trouble with very northern english accents, thick scottish and irish accents. Focus on American, southern English accents and i dont know if im being bias, but i think the Australian accent is not so bad most of the time as its just one type of accent with slight degrees of prominence

this only affects me when I feel like watching British tv shows or movies desu, because then I actually need to enable the subtitles. it took me two minutes to get used to the Australian accent, it even grew on me and sounds kind of sexy now
